  1. That must have been sooooo boring.

    Driving slow makes me tired.

    Good effort though!

Too true, I remember when I had my Zed every time I went to Newcastle I would try and get an MPG like this, I think the furthest I ever got was Cambridge with around the 40 mark but it felt like I had been driving 4hrs already so I went from 60ish to 80ish the rest of the way and ended up with my usual 32/33...

  2. That's quite a lot of money to throw at your car, or have I missed something? Surprised at the spacers, don't really know why, I suppose that I've always seen them as purely aesthetic and performance hindering.

Is it to eventually be a track thing or just to spruce up?

Trust me, if there was a way to do it without spacers I would, but the choice of wheels I actually like are very limited unless I want to spend the big bucks on the M6 wheels along with new tyres. You're absolutely right, they do hinder performance, but I'll still be dropping unsprung weight even with them so there's a small benefit to be had. I'm not going to pretend that I'm not changing them mainly for the looks though! :D

It is a lot of money, but really what else is out there for the budget that gives me what the 645 does? Impreza is tempting but I've been there, Boxster can't get kids in, 996 would be wonderful but twice the budget before mods. There's nowt with a V8, manual box and space for 4 with a huge boot, really. All this is just for a spruce up really: Half the budget on performance and pretty stuff, half on making sure it won't self-destruct. There's a good chance of increasing resale value too, as with the engine work that's the two biggest fears for any V8 6-series owner done and dusted with.

It will start seeing more track days though, as I'll have a spare set of wheels for 888s. I might even try the Federals on them, considering the price differential and the 80/20 rule.

Jaaaag XFR, supercharged V8, mahoosive boot, back seats, superb interior & sound system, 510bhp, looks so much better than a beemer (imo obviously) and around £20k for a good pre-facelift one :)

  4. So when I did my Spain trip by myself, I must've been the most selfish person in the world ever by not inviting anyone from here when I posted it up. Wow, I didn't realise what a c**t I'd been.

    Sorry about that guys. :(

    Absolutely!

And surely you must have realised what a c**t you are by now

Don makes me think of Ralph Fiennes' performance in In Bruges, which it must have heavily influenced, and should be on everyone's list.

One of the few films that I can watch over and over again :)

  8. I think between the 9 of us members we must have attended hundreds of meets and met 1,000s of members so I hardly think we are elitist, just enjoy each other's company just as much as the driving, anyone that knows us will understand that :)

  9. Agreed re. the old millitary road!

I occasionally drove that road when the construction traffic was able to use it. You had to drive at 30mph! Go too fast or too slow and people with guns would be very cross with you!!! Much more fun now it's open to the general public!

And the rest-and-be-thankful!! What a great road! My uncle was from Lochgilphead, had the pleasure of driving that road many times! Must do it again sometime soon..

Shame about all the cloak & dagger stuff going on, I'm sure plenty of other current and prospective owners would like to catch up with you all on your route, see your cars and make new acquaintances. I'm not in Scotland this week unfortunately, I'm sure loads of us up norf would've appreciated the invitation to meet up though...

Yeah I get what your saying but this is not really a forum meet just a bunch of people who met up on here, there are more non Zeds than Zeds.

We have posted up threads before and got mixed responses but at the end of the day it's more to show people how much fun can be had, not to gloat or anything. Posting routes and plans on an open forum before we went could cause all sorts of problems unfortunately...

You could pm them. Only to those that you'd like to join you of course, missed opportunity really. Still, have fun!

May seem like that, we talked about contacting people and arranging things and decided as a group not to, nothing personal to anyone that feels left out but like I said this isn't a forum thing, just so happens we all met on here. We all have enough friends on here that are genuinely happy that a group of petrol heads (and a derv head) that they know are doing a road trip and that's why this thread is here.

    Weather is absolutely beautiful

Well that's obviously your decision, but I'm a regional rep on the Focusstoc and events organiser/moderator on gt86ownersclub and I've never heard of anyone broadcasting a road trip and then telling everyone else on the forum that they're not welcome to meet up!!

Very cliquey! Each to their own.

Yeah the reason it has become cliquey is because those of us that now no longer have Zeds were not welcome to join the yearly forum drives in Wales so we do our own thing :)

Feel free to organise your own trips on here and invite as many as you like
