  1. Apprently the part of the car they tether it to can take 5000KG of force on them and they still broke :scare:

yeah, what was really impressive is that only the right upright failed, but because it went, the left was almost instantly overloaded causing it to go as well!

must have been an absolutely insane amount of energy being passed around! toro rosso are running the previous version of the uprights now rather than the newer ones they brought to shanghai which is probably for the best!

  2. What happened to the tethers that are suppose to keep the wheels attached to the bulk of the car???
They were attached to the uprights which were the cause of the problem so the wheels came straight off. Very strange accident, but not utterly dissimilar to a spyker accident in 2006:

  3. hmm, i've got the same thing at the moment and guessed it would just be stones (as i used to get this a lot in my last car as well). i haven't checked for stones in mine yet, i'll have a look tomorrow. hopefully not a nail - really can't afford new tyres at the moment! :headhurt:

  4. Looks good! Used to see them all the time up on the Epsom downs - given the damage I do with my nitro buggy (i've still got the scars on my knee from the accident last year!), there's no way i'd trust myself with a plane or heli!

  5. it really depends on a number of things really. to go seriously quickly, you'll need a brushless motor and lithion ion batteries. To go even faster you'll need an uprated ESC, gears and you'll need to double up on the lithions which starts to get expensive.

typically, an out of the box brushed 22 turn motor RC will do about 40kmph. If you go full hog with all the above, then you can easily pass the 100kmph mark.

my advice is to buy local as shops are your best resource for help, advice and if you buy from a shop, they're likely to have on the shelf spares.

Feel free to PM me if you need more advice

  6. I had a terrible start to my RC year this weekend. Tried to fire up the Nitro for the first time since October and only managed to get it to splutter a few times as my starter died on me!

I've also had my first faceful of nitro this year

Next weekend will be better

  7. I've got an HPI Trophy 3.5 nitro.

If all you want to do is rag a car around, go brushless electric as they're rapid as hell! If you fancy fiddling with the car for 50% of the time, then go Nitro, nothing beats the sound of a single piston engine going round at 35,000 rpm :D

I'd avoid buying nitro 2nd hand though. The general rule is to assume they're worth nothing besides the radio gear as unless you're pulling it apart before you buy.

If you need any advice, feel free to ask

  8. sorry for the post hack but can you get the phone controls on the steering wheel to work with these headunits aswell?
I'm fairly sure the phone controls only work with the Bury car kit. The same goes for the microphone as well I believe. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...
  9. it might not have had the adapter. if you've got the bury hands free kit with the craddle in the cubby, then you'll need to buy the adapter. They often pop up in the sales section here. I paid £70 for mine which is pretty much the going rate with postage.

  10. Agreed. I hate to break it to you guys, but hitting 25 doesn't give you a magic drop in your insurance that makes anything like the difference you're hoping for. Didn't with me anyway. NCB is really the way to reduce the insurance cost: Well, that and moving to a better postcode.
I agree, last year mine maybe dropped 25% but that also included another year's NCB which is way more important. If age is main reason your premium is high, then you're with the wrong insurance company.
  11. Looks good

I couldn't resist cleaning mine today either! Weather was too good to leave the car looking as filthy as it was. and got to listen to the Norwich game while I was at it (given the ground is just round the corner, I don't have much choice!)

I was using the T-Cut restorer stuff for black cars and that's done a pretty good job of hiding some of the minor scratches and other marks.
