If all you are worried about is reliability why not buy a used Zed from a Nissan dealer with one year free warranty and pay to add additional years.

I have a 13reg 370z that is on 42k miles and is due a service, according to a Nissan dealer their cost for this is £680 ,is this typical?

They're the most popular brand in the UK, so they're going to have more problems than other cars and being a premium brand, repairs will likely cost more. That said, I don't think they're particularly prone to anything terminal, and having worked on them they're pretty well designed too (for the most part!).
As good as a Zed? Well, they'll be quicker and handle better, but they'll also feel more 'normal' and not as special. If you need rear seats though then comparisons to the Zed are irrelevant. I'm not sure what else you'd get really that could be any better in terms of the overall package.
Ok thanks for that !

Well I have a few concerns about reliability, these may be unfounded but my daughter has a 1 series which hasn't been that reliable. Are the Germans ultimate driving machine all they are cracked up to be.In other words will they be as good as a Z or should I be looking elsewhere ?

Sadly I think I need to get a car with occasional back seats, anyone know anything about BM 4 series was thinking 435i coupe in particular.Any other suggestions welcome, and no ,I cant afford a GTR !!

Had a run in a 65 reg previous model yesterday, felt very quick,i liked it .Motoring press say your newer model is even better.Have been looking for something to replace the Zed, with occasional rear seats for a child but finding it difficult to find something that has the wow factor for reasonable money.

Roads are disintegrating here also !!

The Alpine is an interesting prospect. If they'd been available when I moved on from the Z I might have gone for one. I'm not sure the incoming version will have much of the road presence the OP is looking for. It'll be interesting to see if they follow up with a more aggressive looking version down the line.
It seems they are making one with more grunt but looks may well be the same !

How about a new Alpine A110 due here next year, just under £50k new,no need to worry about warranty, gets good write up and is pretty quick !

Thanks for the reply's very informative, will give it some more thought, not in a big rush.

Anyone got one of these as a daily driver?I do around 100 miles a week round town and longest trip once every 5 weeks of 80 mile,s was wondering what the real life distance on one charge was.
-
It's being discussed for area's of Glasgow but no mention of the charge so far.Oxford seems to be going a step further just banning petrol and diesel vehicles, not sure when it starts.

On the congested A roads where I live your lucky to attain the national limit, usualy there are trains of vehicles crawling along !

I have started to watch Expanse and it has definite promise, i do find that they mumble a bit though making it hard to understand the dialogue.
I find a lot of shows like that nowadays, cant quite understand why it should be with technology supposedly better than ever !!

There is an octane label inside the fuel filler cap for Super, thats what I use, £1.28 a litre up here .

Regarding value of Mk1 I think it may well hold value quite well.Ive had a couple of Supra's and wish i'd kept one, good ones are becoming scarce and values are rising.Other cars with crazy values are the R.S. Ford focus mk2 which are not so scarce but holding value well !

Love that exhaust note.Only did 2k miles in mine last year and 10k in my old Honda, but only have to sit in it to bring a smile to my face !!!

Wondering if the mk1 would be a better buy as they seem to be scarcer ,is the mk2 a better car or has it just got better seats !!

Bloody hell Nissan, let it go already! We want to see a new Z-car (and a new GTR, while we're here) not a blink-and-you'll-miss-it refresh.
Serious question, are Nissan broke at the moment? Or do they just not care about sports cars right now, maybe something to do with a lack of top-level racing? Just seems really odd to do something like this, esp when it's not like this suddenly makes the 370 a must-buy.
I guess they are not selling that many Zeds, which would maybe affect future investment in this type of car.

This hits it on the head.Put a question on any forum and you will get plenty of opinions.I am into guitars as well as cars, would I buy a new guitar,no ,always bought second hand, but my eldest son just spent £1500 on a new one because that's what he wanted,so get what you want, we are only here a short time.As a matter of interest which dealer did you choose ?
