  1. got the cable i ordered from fleabay :)

    there's 3 loose cables -

    black wire - ground <<< easy :)

black/white wire - amplifier ground <<< where to attach if anywhere ?

orange/black wire - dimmer ground <<< where to attach if anywhere ?

Dimmer links to Red/Blue on the Zed stereo harness so when you put lights on it dims the stereo

Amplifier ground can just go to ground!

  2. Sorry to bring back an old thread but I was looking at fitting one of these units and just wandered where the new grounding wire gets fixed to the chassis. Is there an existing wire there which this new one will replace, or does it require a new fitting?

Also how long does the grounding wire need to be?

    Thanks.

Ground wire ideally should be short as possible. You should find a bolt somewhere in the centre console that is linked/ground to the chassis so you can just attach it to that!

  3. Has anyone got any

    7440 7443 T20 11W Power LED (Amber) Brake/Tail Bulbs. 2 (Two) required

    Cheers

I have a pair (2) of the above?? Are you looking to put them on the Zed?

Is it just me that finds it amusing the the JVC is proudly showing "HEAD MODE" in the upper left corner?

Good job on the LEDs tho B)

I did find it quite unusual for it to say that but the beauty is that it is mere a USB port it provides so you can plug a USB stick into it with mp3 or videos and watch it off that! Or just plug in the ipod with any old ipod cable so it means you dont need to buy any additional cables to use an ipod

  5. Looks amazing, love the blue LED look. Mine has turned up today. Any tips for fitting, I have bought double din Fascia (50-256) ISO loom with steering controls (Bose) (29-674) and JVC adapter (29-004). Did you just follow the guide on this forum, or was there any extra messing about.

    Cheers

Pretty Straightforward, link the park brake wire to ground and you will be fine

PM me if you get stuck!

  6. Even if the pics were in real easy

    1) locate screw

    2) insert screwdriver

    3) turn screwdriver

    4) yes you fool.... anticlockwise!

I still couldnt do this... no patience!! the circuit board would be one big piece of solder!! So kudos to those that do this stuff...

Am happy to swap my expertiese in other areas in exchange for LED work... Any of you clever guys need any IT training!!

IT Training? What kind of IT training do you deliver?

  7. Can you post a "guide to leds".

    Certainly Sir!!

You do need some soldering skills but a decent soldering iron aand a thin tip goes a long way to making the job easier

Work on the windows switches first for practise if you need a taster as these are the eaisest to do! ;)

  8. After messing about with LEDs for gauges and now resetting them to the correct readings I ended up doing this!

Its a JVC AVX830! Awesome unit and Ipod routed to the center cubby. Also finished off LEDing the AC controls too

Tried to get the gear know off too but that was uber impossible! Need to re-intervene that one another time :boxing:

  9. The ride to work scheme is really good. You basically save around 40% RRP off bike

I was only limited to halfords at work so I got a ltd edition Boardman hybrid bike! Awesome bit of kit!

Its a 18 month agreement for me and I did question about buying the bike off work (as it is a company asset) and they said most you will pay is £20 at then end of it.

    So suited me fine!

  10. Dont be to eager doing mods with electrics, can end badly... B)

Sure thing! Can the Oil guage reach the 120psi mark when you are giving it some beans?

what have you done? what are you trying to do?

I took apart the 3 guage clusters (to do LED mods which I decide not to in the end) and I reattached the needles when the car is running idle, stationary. The last time I looked at it from memory on idle the oil psi needle was just over the 60 mark so I am assuming this is correct.

Seems fine but I cannot remember if when you put your foot down the needle can sometime creep near the 120 mark
