How long is a piece of string!  Could be engine oil, pump.... could be rad, fans...  could be rad cap... water pump, pulley / pump drive... could be many things. VQs run hot, has this suddenly started or slowly got worse?  Have you recently done any mods or jobs when this started?

And silly question but have you checked it is actually overheating and not faulty sender etc?

You didn't say if your heater gets hot, when you filled the system and burping it.  You want it on full, and if it's not getting hot you have an air problem.

Thermostats you can check in a boiling saucepan and digital thermometer.

Probably if it were me and based on what you've done so far (and assuming the engine has oil) I'd stick a temp probe on to confirm it's overheating and not a sender / gauge fault, and if so loosen the drive belt and give the water pump pulley a wiggle, then stick a pressure gauge inline to test water pump impeller.

Water pump is driven by the cam chain, situated behind the cam chain cover.

  2. Your need to wire the oil pressure sensor into another voltage input and reconfigure the CAL to allow this to work. We would use the Rear lambda input to configure the Pressure sensor to input data. Pressure sensors are normally 5 volt supply but you can buy 12 volt supply sensors. We can also hi jack the oil temp sensor to read pressure as well.

  3. More time back @ Brands Hatch , did some back to back testing with tyres , swapped over the new Nankang CRS which made a huge difference to the car after running Zestinio 07RS. A few photo's. Back in the Abbey workshop now for the SCS Delta Motorsport ABS system to be fitted and doing some initial investigation into fitting a BMW DCT 7 speed gearbox with CANTCU control should make the car even quicker.

  4. suspension dampers set up you get what you pay for I am afraid to say.  a quality damper costs.

If your not racing then you dont need a triple adjustable damper, do you know how to adjust compression/rebound dampers? if not a single adjustable damper will be fine.

  5. Been a while since we have been on here , we lost Tony late last year the man that started Abbey nearly 60 years ago.

We got our 350Z race car back built after a big accident late in 2022.

Had the Car back out @ Brands Hatch last week for initial shake down before we start racing the car again. #eatsleepracerepeat

  6. so the way to fit the front cover with the sump already fitted is to remove the dowels from the engine , measure the dowel run the same size drill through the front cover so the dowels slide into the cover nice and easily. fit the front cover then refit the dowels to position the front cover in the correct position.

  7. use a proper breaking in oil not a mineral oil.  something like this  https://aaoil.co.uk/product/driven-15w-50-mineral-break-oil-br/#:~:text=Driven break-in mineral oil,the critical running-in period or the Millers like you have brought, I would runt his oil for 300 to 400 miles , the car needs the motor working to bed the rings in this will help with oil usage at a later date. Best way to break the motor in is on a dyno as you can load the car nice and easily and controlled.

Bore wash isnt going to happen on 1st start , for a engine to bore wash needs a huge amount of fuel normally a misfire or a issue causing the car to black smoke. Pre lubing is a good idea thou best to crank over with the plugs out as well and over fill the motor with oil to help the oil pump pick the oil up.

It's been a relatively productive few months on the cars since I last posted on here. On the 370 I have:

    • Removed the Nismo arch trim pieces
    • Fitted BC BR 'True' Coilovers (10k front, 8k rear)
    • Fitted Silver Project Rear Toe Arms (Spring Bucket delete) & Camber Arms
    • Fitted 20mm spacers front & rear
    • Fitted lower profile tyres (265/35F & 295/30R)
    • Completed a full drivetrain service
    • And a few other small bits and pieces (private plate, removed rear wiper etc.)

The tyres I fitted are only temporary whilst I figure out what I want to do with the wheels. In an ideal world I'd get another pair of rear mk1 Nismo wheels so that I could run a 10.5J square setup but there's not a chance I'm spending near enough £2k on two wheels brand new... I'm hopeful if I hold out for long enough I may find a full set second hand as I already have a friend with a 350 lined up to purchase a full set of 4 fronts if so. We'll see!

With regards to the S15, I haven't done a huge amount. The car is now SORN ready for more work to be completed over the winter that I didn't have time to do the first time around. I'm planning on removing everything from under the car (exhaust, subframes, gearbox, fuel tank, all suspension etc.), wire brushing and treating the metal before seam sealing and undersealing the car (I'll also be powdercoating the subframes, front crash bar etc.) As I'm doing that I'll also be swapping the CD009 from the 350z DE that I fitted with a 2016 370z Nismo box that I purchased last week with only 30k miles on it. The 350z box was only a temporary measure to get the car back on the road as quickly as possible so that I could enjoy it over the summer just gone - I knew they were notoriously bad for syhchro wear but I took my chances knowing full well that I'd likely need to replace it at some point in the future anyway. I've also got a few smaller jobs planned like refurbishing the brake calipers, replacing the discs and pads, quieting the exhaust, and fitting a radio.

  9. looks an impressive list of parts , having the block line bored as your fitting main studs? full balance of engine dynamic parts I hope as well?

We just built a coiple of VHR for race cars using HR heads on the VHR block still running Ecutek with added engine safety, fuel and oil temp limp modes together with lean trip

  10. So time passed quickly and we was back out on in the Abbey Motorsport/Steve Jordan Motorcycles Nissan 350Z for Round 2 BRSCC Clubsport Trophy @ Silverstone GP circuit, made some major changes on the car to try to gain some more speed in the car which after the Test day on Friday we had made a good move forward. Saturday arrived and qualifying 60+ cars on the track, Steve started, session quickly stopped due to a car with an opening bonnet.... session shortened so Steve only managed 4 flying laps and Mark managed to find some clear laps and popped a 3.21.4 in to put us in 14th Position. Race Steve started (1st ever car start) kept the car all clean from other car paint , lost a couple of places to cars on the when the 1st safety car was deployed, still racing even thou SC lights were flashing but luckily they was from another class, 2nd Safety car we carried out our driver swap , back out with safety car still deployed, Mark make up a few places on the road and finished 3rd in Class and 11th on the road.

HI guys bit of a random one this but I've just brought a 350z thats been off the road for years. Just before it went off the road it was in with you guys and had nearly 3.5k worth of work done., (giuy gave me the invoice lol) Amongst that was dyno tune UPREV001.

    Just wondered what this entailed?

    Many thanks

    Spoiler

this allows us to remap the stock ECU for better performance

  12. 1st race completed last Saturday , I qualified in 21st position only did the minimum laps to quaiify as a driver then got Steve the other driver in the car to get as much time in the car around cars, so we started in 20th due to a car dropping out , I made some good progress to gain 8 places in the 1st lap , managed to get up to 9th place overall (5th in class) then handed over to Steve , Steve dropped back till 11th , was pushing and had a spin , carried on and we finished 13th overall and 5th in class , I flat spotted a rear tyre early on, still need some work on the set up to gain sometime which we will work on before our next meeting on the 21st May @Silverstone GP.

    Short video attached of the 1st lap of the race attached;

  13. Its been sometime since we been on this forum , work been very busy and the last 2 years have been stressful.

So last year I raced a Motorbike Suzuki Minitwin in the Bemsee Series , but decided as I am getting old and after a few crashes maybe it is time to return to racing 4 wheels , some of you may remember this car from a while ago when it was the @TeamLizard 350Z race car things have changed and we now own the car so after a tidy up and some upgrades we are ready to race again in the BRSCC Clubsport Trophy this year , pairing up with another ex Motorcycle race Steve Jordan.

Been testing and happy with our times we are running on the Zestino Gredge 07RS MEDIUM so not a Super sticky tyre like a Dunlop DJ03 running over 45mins with a driver change.

You can keep up with our times/race position @ TSL Timing  https://www.tsl-timing.com/event/221531

Any changes or updates on this?
Have 03 cd700 ecu was hoping they figured it out by now

No new news I am afraid , with not enough memory space in the Eprom to add the multi map code multi maps on CD700/800 will never be added.
