  1. I got my plenum over the weekend, thanks to Nath

The plenum was delivered well packaged and in great condition and the polishing, which must have been a pain, is probably as good as you can get a casting like this - while not a mirror finish, is more than satisfactory. While i fitted it i also added a plenum spacer from a group buy a short while back (thank you chilli red )

Everything went on fine first time and the car runs great, i think i spent more time reading about fitting this than actually fitting it - anyway on to the pics..

So the engine bay looks much cleaner now and i'm very happy with the result :)

Nath, my old plenum will be on its way back to you shortly. Many thanks from a happy customer :)

  2. I went for the zed fitment momo hub for now, i got a package deal at a good price. I wanted to get the wheel on the car first to get an idea of reach etc, then if the momo hub looks and feels naff i'll know what to do with regards to short hub / long hub, spacers etc.. i have no need for quick release personally, although they do look cool.

  4. thanks for the big welcome and help, is ther any thing i should look at if it is an import other than the higher insurance. what are the pro's and con's of haveing an import?

You might want to see if it's delimited, top speed is limited to about 115mph iirc on JDM's. Tax might be higher too, depends on how it was tested when it was registered in the UK. You'd want to check the mileage i'd think, mine is in kilometers up untill it was converted, then in miles after that so it's not a simple matter of reading the numbers off the dials. Also, nearly all imports suffer a busted splitter when they are unloaded from the ship, if it was imported in a containter you won't have that problem, but worth paying close attension to the front end bodywork and shut lines etc.

All i can think of right now, jdm's are very similar to UK's tbh, not 'huge' differences at all on these cars :)

ed: Just thought, the ecu's run a slightly leaner map due to better fuel in Japan, you might want to check that it's been run on v-power or similar.

  5. Welcome to the forum..

I just started reading through the thread, couldn't help thinking 'Nixy will be along in a min to sort this one out'. There is a lengthy story behind the name fairlady, personally i specifically wanted a JDM import and i love the heritage of the car and the history of the fairlady's.

Proud fairlady owner here too .

  6. Pic whore op :teeth:

Ha ha, I thought you might be along Ian

Your wheel does look awesome, thanks for the advice. The stock wheel position is fine, just the diameter is too big - doesn't need to be much smaller either - made that mistake in my MR2. Yours looks spot on.

How did you got about convincing the air bag light into staying off?

  7. On the way home today I made a decision. I've tried to get used to the stock steering wheel - but I don't like it so it's got to go - it's mostly just too big. I know I will lose the air bag too but I don't really care. Anyone got any after market wheel pics (I know of a few on here with nice wheels - pic whore opportunity :)) and any advice on fitting please?

    Greatly appreciated as always

  8. Very strong showing guys  Very clean and amazing zeds..................it always beats me how some people manage to keep especially the wheels spotless at the meets

Do you bring your own water or just dry clean or what?

    speed detail :)

  9. Seen your car today Dave, I think you made the right choice in the way you went with it - looked great

Thanks Ian, I only just got this on in time. I saw your car too - the install is very tidy . How is it running now you've done a few trips?
