  1. Here ya go.... It's made a bit of a mark on the screen, but it does come off with some glass cleaner...just can't stand the noise and don't want it to cause any permanent damage!
  2. Hi all. Have a bit of a niggle with my Zed...when the wipers are going, the wiper arm is very slightly fouling the windscreen! Not enough to cause damage, but enough to squeak every time it brushes over and drive me mad! It's the part right at the arm hinge which is fouling, and the arms are so beefy (compared to other cars I've had) that I can't imagine they'd twist and cause the problem. Conversely I doubt I could twist them a bit and solve the problem!! I tried the blades from my MR2 thinking that maybe different blades may help the arm sit further away from the screen, but to no avail! Has anyone else had this and found a fix? It's got me a bit stumped at the minute!!
  3. Thanks for all the helpful replies! I think the K&N will be popping up on my shopping list straight after I've got round to picking up some wheel spacers!! Just got an MR2 to get rid of first before I feel I can enter modding mode!
  4. Cheers again for the nice comments!! I popped to the shops in it today...found a nice spot well away from everyone and parked up. As I was in the shop, I thought to myself "I bet I get back and someone's parked within a foot of me!" Lo and behold, upon return to my car there was a people carrier so close to my passenger side that he must have been tiny to get out of the door!! Why is it always people carriers that do this?? Do the dads driving them just do this to annoy those of us who are childless and can own a 2 seater, as I used to have exactly the same with the MR2!!??
  5. It's completely stock, which is what I was after. I'm going to hold off mods for a while...but I bet once I sell my MR2 I'll get itchy wallet syndrome!! I do want to get some wheel spacers though, that's definitely top of the shopping list!!
  6. Cheers for the warm welcome guys! I've been keeping it very steady so far, as weather like this isn't exactly the best time to 'get to know' your car!!
  7. Hi all, I finally got round to picking up a Zed yesterday... It's a 55 plate Blade GT, with 36k on the clock, full Nissan service history and all the trimmings bar Sat Nav...I'm rather chuffed, and keep looking out the window at it!! Here's a quick pic I took today whilst photographing MR2 parts to sell! I'll hopefully get time to clean & drive her over the next few days!!
  8. Hi guys. Reading a recent thread about intake kits, the K&N wasn't really mentioned...are they any good? Is anyone running one on here? They seem good value to get all this for just over £200...polished intake pipe, cold air box, filter and an air scoop. Comments & opinions welcome!!
  9. That could just be the ace in your pack....that's stunning!! Or maybe it's the joker, as it's actually gunmetal...not silver!! I need to have a look around now to find something to see you and raise the stakes again!!
  10. Dark wheels on silver just looks very:
  11. +1, bit old hat really... Every where you turn you see a Silver car with light coloured alloys on... Ooh, a picture poker opportunity. I'll play my hand...let's see what you've got!! http://my350z.com/forum/attachments/350 ... -shot6.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a188/ ... an/z33.jpg Won't let me embed the images for some reason, but you can't tell me they're !!
  12. Interesting post...I had similar problems when trying to find wheels to put on my MR2. Everyone said dark wheels on a silver car, but I can't help feeling that it is so overdone now that it almost looks a bit tacky and chavvy! I never got around to buying any more, so my car's been silver on silver since...tbh I think it looks much more subtle, understated and a bit more classy...
  13. Wow, stunning!! I love black cars, but having had one I couldn't do it again...I have a fear of stonechips and would be cleaning it all the time!!
  14. I got stuck on my drive last year...one of those hessian doormats under the rear wheel does wonders for traction!! A similar technique can be used if you're out and about by using the footmats...although once you get moving you'd need a passenger to pick them up and catch up with you!!
  15. Sorry chap, didn't mean for the post to reflect badly on Sky...I've always had a top service from you! It was quite an amusing experience
  16. That's where my MR2 makes light work of the snow...oodles of traction!! Effectively makes the car like a snowmobile...power and weight at the back and little skis at the front!! It really doesn't strugggle in this weather, and very good to get from house to a clearer main road... I used one of our company cars in the snow last year, a Golf Plus!! The traction control threw a hissy fit and you just couldn't get anywhere, especially if it involved turning and accelerating at the same time!!
  17. LOL...good advice guys!! It's not snowing here, only had about 5 minutes this morning on the way to work. The guy was going to take the car to work today as his commute goes straight past my house...so in the worst case scenario I could always opt for a good inspection under my nice dry car port and maybe a quick passenger drive. It seems a good price for a low mileage 55 plate GT model, plus the usual bit of haggling!!
  18. I've found a nice example local to me, which I should be test driving tonight! Any opinions/advice welcome!! http://www.pistonheads.com/SALES/1376082.htm
  19. I very nearly had this happen to me! I changed my MR2 a couple of years ago and informed my insurance company, Sky Insurance...I didn't recieve a new certificate, but as they didn't say they would send a new one out it slipped my mind to keep an eye out for it coming in the post. It turns out I was making payments to them, but the policy hadn't gone through their system!! So I was on a day out in Matlock, got pulled over by an angry looking policeman and asked to join him in his car. After explaining who my insurance was with, him phoning them up to check I did have a policy and them confirming...my heart rate was then able to return back to normal!! He ended up showing me all the systems in his car that character-recognise the number plates of each car that drives by and runs the details through a database before letting me go...and even said he didn't mind my illegal rear plate as although the characters were slightly too small at least it was legible!!
  20. +1 Over on the MR2OC, you get a lot of newbies spending all their cash on engine mods or putting bodykits on...but their cars are on awful tyres and the suspension's not been aligned in years!! Then they post up a few months later saying they've spun on a roundabout!! I've always recommended people follow this order; Chassis/handling improvements - Lowering, stiffening, bracing & brakes...etc. And make sure you get the geometry set up properly!! Breathing mods - Intakes & exhausts...to make it sound better! Aesthetic mods - Kits, carbon, interior bits...etc. Then power mods last of all...not really applicable to 350Zs unless you're talking FI??
  21. Does a car being a Cat D affect insurance costs at all??
  22. Cheers for the replys guys...seem to be a fair few links to the MR2 owners clubs cropping up here!! Now for a few quick questions regarding these two cars: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/200945345447120/sort/priceasc/usedcars/make/nissan/model/350_z/radius/40/quicksearch/true/page/1/postcode/ng138sq?previous=%2Fsearch%2Fresults%2Fusedcars%2Fpostcode%2Fng138sq%2Fradius%2F40%2Fmake%2Fnissan%2Fmodel%2F350_z%2Fsort%2Fpriceasc%2Fquicksearch%2Ftrue%2Fpage%2F1&anchor=advert200945345447120&logcode=p http://www.pistonheads.com/SALES/1391732.htm They both say 'Metallic Silver' but I'm pretty sure there's a difference in colour there...is there anywhere I can find PDFs of the old brochures so I can see what colours they came in?? Would also help me work out exactly what's in the GT pack, ie. why the second link has controls on both sides of the steering wheel!! Finally, I think I've decided what sort of thing I'm looking for; a 2004, UK GT model in the lighter colour silver (Metallic Silver I believe??) with about 50k max on the clock. Would a price of between £10k-£11k be reasonable for such a model??
  23. Cheers mate, love your 2...always liked the white ones! The guys on the MR2OC seem to say that the zed is less 'involved' and therefore less exciting...although the general advice over there tends to be to warn anyone away from a car that doesn't rattle you about like a 2 does, by dismissing it as 'boring'!!
  24. Cheers for the welcomes and compliments on the MR2!! Seems there are a few ex-MR2 owners on here!! The other company is Woodsport...although I've heard some nightmare stories about them, Rogue always has better feedback! The V6 swap into a Mk2 is getting quite common, but they really don't seem to give much power & torque as you'd expect for a 3 litre...plus it'll still be an old MR2 on the outside! A V6 Roadster would be more appealing, but I don't like soft tops!
