  1. My tyres are of some concern to me, they are continental contisport contacts... thats v.1... they are on sport contact 3 now...

I can't wait to get through these Bridgestones so I can get something safer in time for next winter!

I might even get a second set of wheels, have one set fitted with Winter Tyres and run them Nov-March

  2. Yes, ice display was on and it was showing 0°C... have to remember how to drive rwd again. I think the problem is partly that the zed is so relaxed at 50-60mph with no boomy exhaust etc that it lulls you in to a false sense of security. Thats not me blaming the Zed mind....

I had the same this morning on a sweeping left hand bend...gauge was showing -3°C and it was the main road through my village so it looked quite clear.

The whole car started to go, and the ESP kicked in and with a slight flick of the wheel pulled it back in line. Heart rate went up a bit and there was some serious buttock clenching involved too!!

I blame the RE040s personally...I think they turn from rubber to plastic below 0°C!!

  3. Ahh, right. I'll bear that in mind then. As you've pinpointed, the ride height is noticeable and loss of camber. Although, I have no real intention of playing with the suspension but, its still early days and you never know what the future holds.

Camber won't change from adding spacers? It looks like it on my pics as I'd only just dropped the car off the jack.

  4. Looks so much better!

Glad you posted this up, because I was then about to PM Biscuit asking him the exact sizes to get again. This now reminds me, 20mm front, 25mm rear. Cheers, bud.

Cheers chap, CS advised the 20/25 combo if I'm sticking with stock height...any lowering would need 20/20.

The spacers do highlight the ride height a bit more, so I'm now contemplating lowering a bit...I will stick to the 20/25 combo though and look at arch rolling if the rears start to foul the tyres. :)

  5. Looks superb… B)

    Caught the MR2 in too… B)

Cheers! She's a bit dirty and in need of some attention...I've got to take off the BC Coilovers and Whiteline ARBs and put stock items back on as I want to sell the parts seperately, but the weather's been so cold I've not had the motivation to get onto it!!

looking nice B) how much for both sets ?

IIRC it was £210 delivered...it's a week since I paid for them so I may be £5 out! ;)

  6. Big thanks to CS for getting a set of Eibach spacers to me this week, great service and a great price!!

I went for 20mm front and 25mm rears, so thought I'd best post up some pics to show the differences from stock and recommend this simple mod to everyone!! It's amazing how much better the car sits with the spacers on. :teeth:

  8. If you like the bumper buy an R35. If you can't afford an R35, don't buy the bumper either.

    +1

It's akin to buying an MR2 and making it look like a 355...I've never understood why anyone would need to try so hard to create a false impression of wealth!!

  9. Cheers!! I did the interior with the 3M Ni-Doc vinyl, I think Carbon Forza are selling it on here. It is fantastic stuff and very easy to work with. Just heat it up with a hairdryer or hot air gun and it goes like clingfilm and can then be manipulated easily. It only struggles on very tight corners but can normally still be done

Nice one, might look into getting some of that...IIRC it's textured isn't it??

  10. What an awesome thread!! Just scanned through, I can't believe what a mess the bodyshop made and how good you've made everything look doing it yourself!!

I've always done everything myself on my cars, including some bodywork but always leave the painting for the pros...fitting a widebody kit is something I'd never think to tackle myself though!!

The carbon interior bits look really good, are these using carbon vinyl or the genuine stuff? And how difficult is it to get right?? :teeth:

  11. It's all weight reduction to make the car faster

    LOL!

I can see why people get them re-sprayed though, no bodyshop could do worse than Nissan did!! :teeth:

    :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

You obviously haven't read my build thread then

Nope...I'll have to have a read!!

I knew that comment was an open invite for shoddy bodyshop stories!!

  12. Hi all,

I started repairing a few stonechips on my Blade this weekend, am I right in thinking there is no clearcoat on these cars??

Also, I can't believe how thin Nissan paint is...looking closely at a chip it seems like it barely has to touch before it's down to the undercoat!!

  13. Ok, when I got the Z a month ago I said I wouldn't be making any mods for a while as it's such a stunning car in stock form...

But I couldn't look at it without chuckling at the tucked in wheels!!

So I've got a set of Eibach spacers on the way 20mm front and 25mm rear. I can't wait to get them on and get the Z looking more butch!! :teeth:

Big thanks to CS for the friendly PMs and advice on Saturday morning to help me decide which sizes to get.

  14. Lol...I couldn't possibly post a pic of my work desk...I barely get a second free to go to the loo, let alone tidy my desk!!

    Here's my home one...

    DSC02534.jpg

    liking that working arrangement B)

Cheers Husky...it's nice and quiet up there away from the rest of the house, and I got loads done when I worked from home the other week due to snow. Only thing is, loft conversions are still pretty chilly!! :cold:

  15. tbh i think if i had gone for winter tyres i would have never slipped into that kerb, i would have slipped yes probably, but never as far. super wide sport tyres are not what the doctor ordered. and although tolerable at points no its really not ideal (shown by the matiz overtaking me). next year i will have a bumper car definately, the cost i will have incurred in damage will be of the same value as said car ;)

After seeing some of the videos of all season tyres vs winter tyres, I'd be inclined to agree!

In time for next winter I'll be looking to get a second set of wheels with winter tyres...either put winter tyres on my Rays and get a showy set for summer use, or a second set of Rays with cold tyres on.

Or just get a bumper car like you said!

  16. my tape deck converter to ipod cost me sod all from sainsbury's and the calrity is great. i only use it occassionally and i have an iphone charger anyway so its no biggie.

    Tape deck convertor:

I think they give much better clarity than these FM transmitters:

Plus the tape deck convertors are available for a couple of quid!!
