  1. Dont forget you'll probably need a new double din facia too, if there isn't one in already
  2. If you have the black steering wheels control box on the loom, and the Pioneer is a relatively modern one (last year or two), then check with ICT (In Car Tech) which is the correct steering wheel control cable, as you may find that need the newer 29-020 instead of the 29-007. The nissan bluetooth module only workis with the original Nissan Bose HU.
  3. I think the left speaker issue may have been a headunit issue if I remember rightly. Do a search as I think there was mention of a fix, and I'm sure it had something to do with a ribbon cable inside the headunit. I got my 4100 from Dymanic Sounds in London, which was sent UPS and arrived next day for £384 plus postage to Jersey. That was about the cheapest I could find that was in stock. Don't forget to add in the other costs too as they soon mount up:- Double Din Facia - £14 ISO loom - £29 Steering wheel control cable £10 Pioneer ipod/USB cable - £30 DVD Bypass - £30 (or try the 12v rerlay hack which shouldn't cost more than a few pounds) You'll also need a couple of feet of cable suitable to be used as a ground, plus some spare crimp on rings, spade/bullet connectors and half a dozen or so snaplock connectors to for the bypass, heatshrink tubing or insulating tape, plastic ties, etc.
  4. It comes with a long 1.5m or so lead that has a male socket that connects to the head unit and a female end that you either plug the ipod cable or a USB key into. I routed mine to the centre console and had no need to use a USB key so just plugged the USB socket into the ipod cable into it and then just that piece of it away under the console floor
  5. Count me in too (although the Mrs might go nuts, but WTF).
  6. Count me in too (although the Mrs might go nuts, but WTF).
  7. Looks like you need the bluetooth cradle and the bluetooth adaptor that slots into it. I've just removed mine as I changed the headunit in my Z so it's surplus to requirements at the moment I presum that you have the standard Nissan Bose still fitted?
  8. ah right......that explains it then!! i'll sort that when i fit the steering cable. What size jack is it, just a 3.5mm headphone type ?
  9. i was hoping that I could get the sound from the satnav into the headunit, so that it came out through the car speakers?
  10. Thanks guys. The Satnav is Nurrish's custom jobby. Which reminds me - Nurrish I've plugged the RCA cables off the Satnav into the headunit audio L+R inputs and the yellow one into the ext video in. For some reason it doesnt seem to want to come out on the Headunit, even just the sound. Any ideas? Maybe I need to have a bit of a play around with it.
  11. All sorted. The back of the headunit actually has quite a bit of spare space, so it wasn't too hard to hide the wires, but I stuffed as much as I could down the gaps at the side. Only major hassle was realising after I'd put the console back in that a plug out of the loom had come astray and to remove the bl**dy thing again to fix it. As luck would have it the DVD bypass arrived yesterday so no need to try the relay route. I just need to wait for the replacement steering wheel control cable, which I'll fit when I get chance and may consider fitting the Pioneer bluetooth module at the same time. The ipod connection works fine and I routed it to the centre console cubby, removing the entire Nissan bluetooth module.
  12. If you have steerling controls you'll need the 29-XXX as well.
  13. In the same boat here. Mine was advertised as an '06, but after viewing it and doing some research found out that it was clearly an '05. Wasn't really too bothered at the time, as I figured I'd probably be able to sell it on as an '06
  14. quick update for anyone following the install in the future.....i popped the HU out of the console and hooked up the wiring to check everything was ok. The loudness is spot on - 9 on the Pioneer volume was comfortably loud and the sound quality was excellent. Unfortunately the DVD bypass hasn't arrived yet and with the strike I'm not expecting it before the weekend when I'm going to finalise the install, so i'll have to leave that for another day, but I might consider going down the relay route - there a YouTube tutorial on how to do it, so might try that and if it works I'll just sell the bypass I ordered. The 29-007 steering wheel cable is definately the WRONG one. The volume doesnt work at all and the skip rocker turns the volume down but not up. The voice button acts as a mute and the phone does nothing. I'll speak to Sextons tommorrow and either get them to send a 29-020 or call ICT direct, so that's another job I'll need to put off for now. Apart from that the unit looks great. It also slides down and moves back in when loading a cd and only very slightly catches the plastic trim that I used, but nothing major so i'll leave it as is.
  15. right, I've now taken the console out and after a bit of faffing around have the HU fitted with no ugly gaps. I used the extra Pionerer plastic trim, which needed cutting down quite a bit, but easy to do - just score with a Stanley and then bend along the score line to break off. This then sits between the DD facia and the head unit - the side were fine just gappy top and bottom. I used some double sided tape on the underside of the facia to hold the trim in place which has also bent the trim to the same curve as the facia. I'm yet to connect it all up, so i'm hoping that the front of the HU doesn't catch on the trim or facia when the front slides down to pop a CD in....time will tell and maybe a little bit of trimming might be needed later on, although the bottom of the HU does extend slightly more than the facia as it is, so I might be alright Anyway, looks nice I think:-
  16. The headunit does come with a largish square double din sized black plastic piece with a 1.5" border, which it says to install if there's any gaps, so I'll try that perhaps. I'm going to take the console out tonight (dont need the car for a few days) and try and get the HU installed - will post pics if I manage it! I think the RCA's just need plugging into the female RCA outputs in the back of the HU. I just presume that I dont need RCAs for the sub and that the amp takes care of sending a signal to it, based on what it receives from the front and rear speaker inputs. The 4100 has a 4v output, so volume should, hopefully, be fine
  17. I presume that if you fit the Pioneer bluetooth the ICT steering wheel control cable won't work for the phone functions and that the cable is for the headunit's audio only? I haven't bothered with the BT adaptor myself though, but maybe something to consider at a later date.
  18. Ok, i might have sussed it, but I think:- Yellow RCA = Left Rear Black RCA = Right Rear White = Left Front Red = Right Front
  19. right then, I followed the link on the original thread and soldered and heat shrank in the ground wires, with the exception that I soldered the ground wires on the Pionner cable and the ICT separately - so that I have two ground wires with eyelets. All is fine. But, where the feck do the Black, Yellow, Red and White RCA plugs on the ICT loom plug into or are they just surplus? I'm a bit confused on how the unit attaches to the console as well....the double din facia has a larger hole than the Pioneer unit although it seems alright if the pioneer facia is left on, but that connects to the cage and with the cage installed all the screw holes in the side of the unit are hidden...very weird. I'm sure this bit will be clearer when I come to fit it on Saturday. Piccy of the headunit without the pionner facia and cage and DD surround Unit with Pioneer surround (no DD facia) Both facias side shot with cage on side without cage
  20. Plus another £100 for professional fitting after I balls my attempt up
  21. Well if it helps, I got my HU from a place called Dynamic Sounds on the web - £384 which is a fair bit cheaper than most are charging. Arrived next day by UPS too. The killer is all the bl**dy wiring, facia etc costs?:- £30 for the Pioneer ipod cable £33 for the ICT loom £5 for the steering wheel cable £15 for the facia £30 for the bypass (although I believe there is a cheaper option!) £20 postage £133 for extras!
  22. Will do.....I'm planning on following the AVIC wiring (as detailed in the first post) as the HU wiring looks to be identical. Just going to use a proper DVD bypass though and an Ipod cable to somewhere. Already have the facia and HU, just waiting on the ICT cables, bypass and ipod cable to arrive - hopefully it'll miss the RM strike!
  23. Are you using an Iphone though, as mine seems to interfere with the bluetooth module (the usual mobile type feedback) i I leave it in there and the phone rings. Is it possible to feed it through the console and then to one of the cubbies behind the seats instead?
