  1. Well priced so Even with a base tune my went from 265 (fly) to 300 (fly) so if you could option out on the actual tune and have a price maybe for the ECU only and one with tune? (since tune is more soft cost then hard cost) Would be cool to have it running over 1 weekend... some meet 20 pre and after dyno's of da Z'z...
  2. just a note that TDI ordered the haltech directly/specially from the manufacturer for me and charged me under 1k for it as I recall.. you one of the lucky ones Paid more for the tune though?
  3. That sounds about right Would be more £ today though Haltech all the way is what I recon, hard to find tuners that know what they are doing with the unit though. What Haltech unit are you talking about in the gb though? They got two for the Z and one is much cheaper then the platinum kit... I'd talk to the guys in Haltech to see if the tuner in question is capable (known by them) to do good tunes with the Haltech ECU. The support from the Haltech staff is pretty solid! On this note... I'm strongly considering upping my injectors and possibly pump to run my yoke on E85
  4. Good post! Having my dents seen by thedentman.ie tomorrow hope he can sort out the dent I got by a traders van door slamming into the rear arch! Will be cool to see how its done
  5. double fuel.. must be using ALL that new found power so Wonder if I could re-register the car and get down from the 1500€ / year tax bracket that's over here on anything over 3litre... E85 = 85% Ethanol and 15% Petrol, all the Maxol stations over here in Ireland are using / have E85. Topaz has started with the E5 (5% Ethanol). The car is mapped for E5 and if I go to Topaz it doesn't run as good, better with a busy Maxol station. The quality seem to be all over the place, nothing different to petrol I guess. Only thing is that it's made from a crop (not in Ireland as far as I know it's made from some leftover milk production, don't quote me on that) Can someone else do this before me? Don't like to be the 1st trial and error person
  6. CS, cool so But surely they'd last more then that? Probably will get another set on the rear when time comes
  7. The haltech does have the change map on the fly option. Worth a good think... not only power increase... can deduct the VAT on the petrol too It should drink about 20% more and in there lies the power increase... I hope I'll keep you guys posted, with petrol price increasing more then ethanol at the moment it starts looking even more likely that I go ahead. Was hoping that someone else had done this before though.
  8. Anyone tried to run their Z on E85? Was talking to a tuner the other day about getting mine mapped for E85, should not be any problem in doing so according to him Have the Haltech Platinum Engine Management system so changing the tune around should not be much of a problem. Might need to upgrade the injectors (hopefully not) with a good base map and tune he'd charge me 350€ for the work, should I or not? A
  9. Got my pads fitted a while back, happy with them so far (a bit squeeeky but thats me cheating not using paste on the left side.. , hopefully go once I break them in only done 800km since I got them on) CS, re post from dissapointed buyer, maybe you need to sort that out in PM/Phone etc? Should last more then two trackdays I'm sure? (if someone didnt drive with the braking the whole time?)
  10. After spending a good time taking off the wheel cleaning the caliper / cylinder & putting some grease on the back of the brake pads I put it all back together and rotated the wheel... SAME squeek that I've heard before is now there! EXCELLENT! (can now find out WHAT is causing it) find that it's one little lip of the brake pads shim's causing it! it's against the actual disc while I'm rotating the wheel/disc. Conclusion: My inner pads needs changing it's almost gone (the spacing) on the lower end of it (see picture) not sure why it's not worn evenly (?) When it's so worn the shim is against the disc as per design? (?) At least I know that it's not the wheel bearings thats gone Just need to go shopping for a new set of pads Found this TSB: http://www.350z-tech.com/zwiki/TSB_03-1 ... In_Reverse That applies to my car also... , btw do I actually need the shims? Thanks for all the input ! Spot on!
  11. really hope that's right! Will check that this evening so! It's not brembo's do you know when the pads were last changed. you'll sometimes find as pads where out the piston that pushes the pad out and keeps it on the disc can bind in place. normallly its only an issue when you come to reset it and put new pads in because you'll need a new caliper. my guess is that the squeeze motion that puts the pad on the disc when you break isn't returning fully. make sure brake fluid levels are good as a lack of pressure may cause this. try and free them up witha lubricante, WD40 on a fine nozzle directed into the moving parts might do it. but it could require a dismantle and rebuild. but if pads are low change them at the same time and make it an all in one job. or even swap them over, i believe P17LT (think i got the name wrong(the one with the big mean green car ) wmight do brembo conversion kits or zmanalex is another person who might do a bremo conversion set. i think Zmanalex even has a store of old standard calipers etc so might be able to get a new one off him. I've no idea when the pads where changed ...even if they ever have been changed. I'll take the caliper apart tonight and clean it up, normal to get a seized one (get it on the bikes from time to time). If I need to upgrade I'll go with StopTech brake kit and new rims
  12. really hope that's right! Will check that this evening so! It's not brembo's
  13. = drive like a muppet some times... They are sealed allright mine has gone 53k (km) so far away from 60k I'd wish it's brake related might take the caliper off this evening to have a look, not sure re the meat on the pads hope they're not gone (would have thought it would still make noise even though I'm braking but when I brake the metal noise goes away) I'd say the blind fecker that washed the wheels just stod there with a pressure washer on the wheel... It does do it in reverse (once) when I had it sounding like that before I parked the car. Thanks for the replies, the bloody thing is 390+IRISH VAT each + labour
  14. cheers for the reply tried to spin the wheel manually and it makes no noise at all??? tried to push the top and bottom and it does not budge, just got a quote on the part... pretty expensive!!! and no HP increase think ill get it checked before I move on it,
  15. I have one behind drivers seat and one on passenger side under the cup holder (nearly in the footwell). gonna have to go out and have a look if I got one there too!
  16. Hey, How do I check if my wheel bearings are gone on my right front wheel? Thought it was a stone or something stuck between the pads and the rotor after a handwash (never going back there again) started squeeking a bit when I was driving away from the wash. Was driving it a bit and then tried to drive it off (don't think that was a good idea) after that failing I took the wheel off and had a look at the rotor and bads, cleaned it with brake cleaner spray and tried moving the disc back and forward, no proble in doing so. Fitted the wheel and off I went, all sounded well no squeek! After about 5 min of driving it started again, when I then turn right and left *jugging* it goes then just to start again Thought it was due to this 'thing' being stuck there but it's starting to worry me and I'd like to know how to get it checked by myself before I run and order two new bearings from the shop. Any help would be appriciated...
  17. Thats my plan too... no need for appearance stuff! No need for brakes! No need for tires! No need for suspension! HP all the way...
  18. Have one for sale if interested, used it in the car for a few months only. Pure plenum spacer
  19. Still going strong no further problems, bar that the Idling seems to be a bit higher and not sure how to get that down. Financially figuring out how to get a Cosworth plenum at a lower cost... Want to go and get a dyno run done now since I don't have the plenum and it's de-tuned a bit (I think)... Some interesting software releases to come soon for the platinum series too
  20. If they had seen a G35 before and tuned it with Haltech, assuming they had similar mods to you, then they would be able to tune it quickly. Will also benefit others who do the same as you now, as they have your map as a base, so anyone going with similar mods might get it done even quicker Not a pro in this area but heard you cannot really use maps between cars anyway since there will be certain difference that can't be accounted for? Pingu, do you have access to the ecu or is it locked down? (sorry ment to say not 100% exchangable...)
  21. Sorry mate , did not understand that was your car nice colour
  22. Dyno results? 3.5 hours dyno? That's fast working , sound writeup!
  23. I wait with baited breath! Probably missed this but who is doing the work for you? And what dyno do they have? Will be nice to see results from a more well known member on a proven dyno TDI in essex are doing it.. not sure what to expect, but I view it is a base on which to build they have a "Rototest VPA-R chassis dynamometer".. I believe it is pretty decent http://www.tdi-plc.com/index.php?pge=C_dynocam hmm just read the notes about it: "the Haltech also allows speed limit cancellation", that's not true as for a JPM model and don't think it does it for the UK either *can't confirm this. Might be released in another firmware release though. Looked at those figures seem pretty modest increase in HP too... Think I need to go for a visit
