issue finding 6th gear

First potentially dumb question (of probably many)

 

Driving my Z and finding sixth is occasionally an utter T**T, been told by another owner that this is fairly normal, however i've driven sd1's where finding the gear was easier...

 

Is it just me?

5th and 6th do tend to cause issues in some cars

Does it feel like there's a notch in between 5th and 6th?

 

I had this issue when I first bought my Zed and re-aligning the gearshift plate sorted it for me.

There's a post somewhere on how to do it. Maybe worth a try as its easy to do if you have a socket set.

Get the 'gate' checked first as if not correctly placed that can cause issues. But 6th gear synchro failure has been reported by several members in the past.

Cars been parked up for a few months, got it running today and played around a bit, 'gate' looks correct, and if i match the revs 6 slots in perfectly, so i'm guessing syncros failure. new box time?

Refurb costs as much as a second hand 'unknown' box. 600ish.
