Help Exhaust Mod and Allow reapir

Hi folks,

just a couple of questions pretty please.

I am looking for a garage that can supply and fit the ATP Exhaust bypass, I like the idea of having the ability to be able to switch from a quite to a loud exhaust. I'm looking for a dealer in and around the Bromley in Kent area.

Also i curbed the rear alloy i have upload the picture of the rear tyre, apparently it cant be repaired because of the colour match, they said the best way to fix this is to powder coat the wheel, but it needs to go away for 3 days.

So i am looking for a good repair service in the roley area,

any advice much appreciated.

Thanks

Glyn

I got the bypass fitted last month but it's in a cat back twin system where the valve opens which enables one of the pipes to be a straight thru.

I have the options of both a remote control and a console switch to control it but use the switch only which is a much better option all round the remote is a bit of a gimmick.

I went to Wales to get it done. Found the guy through positive experiences of other members on this site. Charlie at pro-speed.

Can't tell you about performance but i'm still fully into having the party mode/stealth mode option so would recommend it if you think you might want one.

It's worth the drive out there to make a tour of it from where you are as nowhere's better for driving roads than out that way.

Do you have a wheel specialist near you? They are amazing but in the higher price side.

Thanks for that will look them up, see what they recommend. its been 2 days and I am still p*ssed off at myself for curbing the wheel.

Lots of discussion over the years on here about refurbishing the 370's wheels.

First thing to note - you are not guaranteed a perfect match if they send the wheel away for powder coating. In fact, it would be better to take it to a place that does the wheel with the car on site so they can compare the colour to the other wheels.

The 370's wheels are a two stage finish (black base with silver over the top) so there's no paint code to work from. I believe this is even true of the silver wheels. I had all four wheels on my previous 370 painted in a colour that could be matched to a code because of problems after kerbing them. Now I just park the Nismo very very carefully. Don't care who's watching or how long it takes - the wheels stay well away from the kerb :)

Take the car to a specialist refurb outfit that doesn't send the wheel away and discuss what they can do. If you're a perfectionist like me, you might want to consider asking them to do both wheels on the same side. It will obviously cost more but if there's a slight mismatch from the original colour you won't notice it at all, whereas two slightly mismatched wheels on the same side might bug the heck out of you. :)

The only other option is to see if you can find someone who will try a spot repair, but i doubt you'd be happy with the result.

You're probably feeling exactly like I felt the first time I scraped a wheel - it shouldn't be this difficult to get it sorted!? I'm afraid this is one of the few downsides of 370Z ownership - soon teaches you to park sooooo carefully :)

These guys are supposed to be very good. Haven't used them myself but they do the work onsite and don't favour powder coating.

(Someone will probably post shortly that they got a perfect repair done at X place and that's great, but the issue is that it's very much pot luck with these wheels due to the lack of a code to create consistency).

some great advice, thanks everyone, defo want to get the atp exhaust bypass, i user my car as a daily car, so when i want it quite i have the option :)

thanks for the tyre advice as well, will defiantly take my time parking the car now from now on. I can still hear the grinding noise in my head.

well only had the car for 3 weeks, so still got the novelty of driving this lovely car, so going to take it for a spin looks like it might be a nice day. must admit the standard exhaust it pretty pore in terms of noise.
