NigelB Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Hi folks had a rear drivers side tyre failure today, when I got the wheel off it looks like the inner wall was very worn, comments please Quote
DoogyRev Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Tracking and Alignment needs attention and/or it was running under the correct pressure Quote
JetSet Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 or it was running under the correct pressure That was my first thought, could have been a slow puncture or under inflated for quite a while. The other possibility is that its been repaired at some time and the tyre fitter hasn't noticed the inner damage. Pete Quote
NigelB Posted February 26, 2015 Author Posted February 26, 2015 tyre pressure was ok as I regularly check the pressures Quote
brillomaster Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 How old was the tyre? Regularly inspected for cuts and bulges? Good tyres don't just fail for no reason! Quote
JetSet Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 tyre pressure was ok as I regularly check the pressures Then you could have picked up a puncture during your journey, once the pressure drops below 20 psi then overheating is rapid. Was there a burning rubber smell? Pete Quote
NigelB Posted February 26, 2015 Author Posted February 26, 2015 tyre was hot when I got it off the car yes Quote
