Anyone got and/or used a cheap eBay Sat Nav?

Reading Keith's thread: http://www.350z-uk.c...tart-25-fitted/

where his 5 inch Tom Tom is a simple snug push fit into the cubby, I was wondering if a cheap 5 inch sat nav could be bought to do the same.

It appears it can: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item4876b30259

I was just wondering if anyone had any experience of using a budget sat nav like this? This one doesn't appear too bad value, for less than £30 with a 2 year warranty and map updates. (Plus the one in the listing has a GTR on it)

I could use the USB port on the rear of my head unit to supply power and would probably require very little modification to the inside of the cubby to accommodate. Plus by doing this, I figure it would turn on/off with the HU and ignition. I could even use the sat nav as a media storage device for playing music etc on my HU (although I know this wouldn't be possible when actually using it for navigation).

It all just seems a bit too straight forward. Especially for the sake of a £29 gamble. What facepalm  moment is lurking round the corner that I haven't considered?

I like your idea Ian. Will keep an eye on this B)

As I'm still using Bose HU, I'll probably need to get power from the cigarette lighter and modify a USB cable. Will need to research if I can just tap it out or disassemble a cigarette lighter charger to use its bits maybe?

£30 definitely worth a try IMO

That it only comes with a map for Eastern Europe?

That might not necessarily be a bad thing. Have you seen how pretty the Eastern European girls are?

Or maybe it's just the ones I see in the establishments I visit...... ;):wiggle::blush:

Well, the order's been placed. I even splashed out an extra £2 on the 8gb version. Watch this space....... (Assuming it can find it's way here) - See what I did there? :teeth:

I bought this one recently

I wasn't expecting much for £30 but it's actually pretty good, it picks up signal far quicker than my tom tom and the interface is much better, fits nicely in the cubby hole aswell.

I can see the sales of this unit goes up the roof :scare: If this unit comes with the picture shown in the description.
