Steering angle sensor help!

Hi guys,

I'm having a lot of trouble with my steering angle sensor, a while ago I changed the steering wheel on my 350z, unfortunately being abit aggressive when I pulled the oem steering wheel off, the front of the steering angle sensor came with it and dropped the spiral cable everywhere :(. I tried to put it all back together as best I could, when I put it all back together my traction control lights both came on.

I took it to nissan to get reset, but they said they couldn't do it and I needed a new one which they quoted me mortgage prices for, so I got one from another 350z which had not been touched i.e the spiral cable had not been touched, I then replaced it and have been back to nissan to get it reset again, but nissan are again saying it cannot be reset and it is reading 180 degrees out, also they said that replacing the steering angle sensor won't fix it it is because of my aftermarket steering wheel, and i can't put the oem one back on because apparently that still won't work because of the previous modifications, and that I'll just have to deal with having the lights on my dash.

Does anyone have any idea how I can get this fixed as I am now stumped and would like my traction control for the rest of winter? I'm not convinced by the Nissan dealer I'm using atm (in Southend) they don't seem to be the full ticket, I'm contemplating trying another dealership that maybe has a bit more know how but I don't want to get my bum slapped anymore than it already has been.

Thanks in advance

I managed to get my sensor out by 356 degrees :)

All you do is take the wheel off turn the column 180 degrees so it reads 0 (easy if you have the right ODBC connector and software which I do) then re-attach your steering wheel dead straight and you can then reset the warning light and good to go.

I would be skeptical of what the dealer is saying they told me the could not reset the EML as I had a supercharger fitted  Strange as every other garage in the country and a £15 reader from eBay could reset it

Hope that helps
