Marti350z Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Hello peeps.. So I managed to blag my Christmas present off the missis early this year!! Coilovers After installing them I am now getting a clunk/rattle from the passenger side, almost as if something is going to fall off, at first I thought of the banana arm but thought I would replace the drop links as they looked abit old and crusty tbh.. The knock is still there, the only thing is, I had no noise before hand and now I do, is there a way that installing the coilovers has killed off whatever was left of the banana arm bush, or should I be looking elsewhere?? Cheers Quote
ZMANALEX Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Faulty coil over or fitment error perhaps, just retrace your steps to eliminate this. Lose lower coil over fixing bolt is a favourite. If compression bush failure then that will be obvious, however the compression rod ball joint can knock without any obvious sign of wear. Alex. Quote
Marti350z Posted December 15, 2014 Author Posted December 15, 2014 Coilover is perfect mate been over and over it haha. When you say it would be obvious what do you mean? It's almost like a rattle other than a knock, but is definitely suspension related as can hear it when bouncing the car like.. Quote
ZMANALEX Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 If you can replicate the noise when bouncing then just get some one under the car when you bounce it so they can trace the noise. Quote
Pritchard Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Of all the things it could be, i will certainly be stabbing in the dark. but when i fitted a set before i had a knocking when going over small bumps, etc. turned out i didnt tightening the top mount properly so the initial compression was made my metalic contact first As above, get a mate with you. shold be easily traceable Quote
philw99 Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 When I did mine, I'd knocked a metal cover at the back of the disc. made a horrible scraping noise was that obvious until the car was up on a ramp, the cover was touching the back of the brake disc Quote
