Randy_Baton Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 (edited) Hi, May cars started making a knocking noise from the rear. It doesn't have to be when driving, I can just bounce the back by hand and it will make the noise. I read somewhere about this being down to a loose fixing somewhere in the boot behind the trim. What does it sound like to you guys? http://vid1310.photo...zps74b62653.mp4 Edited October 5, 2014 by Randy_Baton Quote
Vlad Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Saying that...exhaust looks pretty solid! Best idea to get 2 people...one to shake car and another one to hold different parts under the car to see if you can configure it out that way Quote
Randy_Baton Posted October 5, 2014 Author Posted October 5, 2014 (edited) It's in for a service soon so I'll get them to look at it. The thread I read said a bolt somewhere behind the lower boot trim can come lose and it's that, that causes the knocking. It sounds slightly duller in the car so thought something might be twanging the petrol tank. I have SSD so have zero direction ability with my hearing, always makes finding things like this a pain! Vlad Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Doesn't sound like loose bolt...as loose bolt will rattle etc... this is banging noise. But you never know lol Yea, best idea to stick it on the ramp and try to wiggle things to see whats loose.Hopefully nothing major mate! Quote
ZMANALEX Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Perhaps loose heat shield above exhaust box. 1 Quote
WhackyWill Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Sounds like something knocking on the exhaust, like something hitting a centre pipe or the back box. Quote
