codders Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Hi, My dash lights appear to be on at their brightest when my lights are off and when I turn the lights on they can be adjusted for brightness by the buttons on the side of the dials. My car has an aftermarket Alpine with satnav. The unit monitors the lights to adjust its display. Should they be on when my lights are off? Has it been installed incorrectly? Thanks, Dave Quote
GIXXERUK Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Sounds normal to me, dash lights are 'always on' Quote
codders Posted August 10, 2014 Author Posted August 10, 2014 I was hoping someone would say that ... I ask because I've never had a car where the dash lights are permanently on. Thanks 1 Quote

samsniss350z Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Definitely standard, with the switch (push pad) on the right hand side of the dash (same type of switch you scroll through the various options on left hand side) also dims the dash lights as you mentioned), it just sounds like your Alpine has utilised this wiring to balance the lighting in the cabin. 1 Quote
