Coilover spring refurb

Hi guys just wondering if this is a do-able thing?

 

I've recently bought a 2nd hand set of coilovers and the paint on the springs is coming away and there seems to be some rust where this has happened. The bodies themselves seem fine it's just the springs.

 

Is this something that happens a lot and will be fine or does it need sorting?

 

Any advice would be appreciated.

Does happen I'm afraid, depends on the kind of coating as to how long it lasts, a temporary fix would be to remove as much rust as possible and treat and paint, but it will come back, the only sure way is to sand blast and powder coat. .

As what TR has said, it is only cosmetic.

 

Strip and powder coat is the longevity fix.
