sat-nav confusion?

Guy's im really struggling understanding the sat nav??? gt4 05 plate... i type in the road name then the sat nav will come up with the said road name in 2/3 different places no where near where i am going!!!!! CAN ANYONE...Give me a step by step guide here PLEASE...

Step 1 - Take large hammer and put it through the satnav screen

 

Step 2 - Remove center console

 

Step 3 - Remove Bose radio

 

Step 4 - Install decent Pioneer/Alpine/App Radio (delete as applicable) with quality postcode satnav

 

Step 5 - Replace center console

 

Step 6 - Start car, turn on new radio/satnav, press "Destination" type in postcode

 

Step 7 - Drive happily to your destination while enjoying the much better sound quality of new HU

 

Step 8 - Realize you should have done it ages ago!

If it is anything like that in my 370 (which does not have the post code facility) you type in the town/city first.
