Short shift

Hi Guys just got a short shift gear stick for the Z ... Simple question are they difficult to fit ???

 

Any body fitted one ..?

Not fitted one in a Z but if it's a knob and not a kit it's a simple case of unscrewing the old one.

Hi Kev no its a new gear stick to fit in the gear box,

I fitted them

 

You have to file a bit of the original casing away to allow the short shifter to select reverse - it's very easy - (if you have a file) - just a bit of the ally.

 

It won't stop you going back to stock later after that just bolt it in

 

You will need to jack the car up and get underneath to undo one bolt that's it then just take the top apart catch the spring and put the new one in

Thanks for that Keyser ,,,I got a new shifter because I have a kind of tapping coming from the stick .. I wondered if a bush might be worn .

Unlikely to come from the stick itself the 350 has a remote stick so if it's shaking it is either coming from the box or more likely the flywheel. Depends how fast the tapping is.

Only does it now and again .. Wondered if the bush on the bottom of the stick might be worn out , ..
