'04 GT Brake Upgrade: Advice Please!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, the discs and pads on my 2004 GT need replacing and I was thinking of going the drilled and grooved route. Mainly for asthetic reasons to be honest. I'm no racing driver but it would be nice to have a bit more grip if I need it as well.

These look like good value on ebay, but are they crap?

At the moment the car has standard brakes from the looks of it, and worn at that! Making them a bit crap, will these be better? Thanks in advance!

What's your budget? haydenH has a aesthetically pleasing setup or could get a brembo big brake kit £3k ?!

The traders on here will help you out clarkmotorsport, cs, Tarmac to name a few

These are just cheap and cheerful Chinese discs that have had groves and drill holes machined in, no real performance benefit but you'll get the look your after.

If you are after more stopping power you need to look at better pads, there are a number of options available depending on your budget and driving style.

Drop me a PM and I will be happy to go through the options :)

+1 For that money I dont think they will even live up to OEM, with poor quality steel probably wont keep their looks either, its your brakes mate, got to be the most important part of the puzzle, even if you'r not tracking it has to be as good as original...

Hey guys, thanks for the advice. Budget wise I want to spend about £400 maximum. The brakes are currently good and do their job well, but when the time comes I want to upgrade and not downgrade, so if those ones I posted are of a dodgy quality I would rather spend more and actually upgrade, lol
