sam350z2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Hi all, Wanted others opinion whether a new exhaust would increase or decrease fuel consumption?... I have been told mixed opinions 😄 Quote
MITZ@CougarStore Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 (edited) Probably increase fuel use as you'll be driving a lot more just to listen to it... Edited November 27, 2013 by CS 1 Quote
Paddy78 Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Probably decrease as you'll be driving a lot more just to listen to it... What he said! It gets even worse when you add HFC's as well! Quote
BulletMagnet Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 If anything it would INCREASE when you drive it more, lol Quote
Paddy78 Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Yeah, decrease MPG, increase fuel consumption. Quote
r37 Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 ive lost about 2MPG since getting my HFC's and invidia gemeni fitted. Had it remapped too so 1st, 2nd and 3rd are all redline gear changes. Worth it though. Quote
bamdc2 Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Its a 350z so ignore anything to do with MPG! Get an aftermarket exhaust and enjoy the sound! 3 Quote
drginger Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 If you drove EXACTLY the same, would it not slightly increase it due to things flowing more freely? Just guessing, not saying this is right! Quote
richmillions Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Probably increase fuel use as you'll be driving a lot more just to listen to it... This and I drive with the window down more further reducing economy (I think that's supposed to reduce economy by 5%) Quote
r37 Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Probably increase fuel use as you'll be driving a lot more just to listen to it... This and I drive with the window down more further reducing economy (I think that's supposed to reduce economy by 5%) Below 30mph you lose 5% economy, around 70mph you lose 15% or so. Air con drops economy by around 10% across the board. Still worth it to hear the bark i get in second when flooring it at 3kRPM 1 Quote
sam350z2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Author Posted November 27, 2013 thanks for the replies.. Ok, I think i'm going to get a new exhaust fitted now 😠anyone know how long it takes so I can take it to a garage without them ripping me off with their labour rate charges ? Quote
techinstaller Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 as long as it takes to undo the rusted to muck nuts on the cats as ive just spent all day soaking them every hour with release fluid as im pooing my self that the studs will snap which are captive (welded )to the cats threads and ive a new milltek coming on friday. Also allow another £35 from nissan main dealer for the gaskets and bolts to bolt the new exhaust back to the cats as they dont come with the exhaust all the other bolts and gaskets do tho for the new sections.good luck Quote
r37 Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 took the chaps at horsham about 2.5 hours to strip my old exhaust + cats and refit new HFC's and invidia gemini. Everything came off pretty easy though. Expect to pay around 2-3 hours labour. Maybe £100 - £150 depending on if its a bugger to remove. Quote
sam350z2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Author Posted November 28, 2013 Thanks ppl.. I'll ask around today for best fitting price. Also, is all that's needed is mainly just the exhaust to get a nice sporty tone from revs ? I just want mine to be a bit louder..😠Quote
bamdc2 Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 corbra/scorpion exhaust and get a popcharger. Job done. Would prob leave HFC as have seen they cause a few O2 sensor problems which kick off the EML. You could get y pipe but I have been more than happy with popchrger and scorpion exhaust. 1 Quote
