Hi all,

Damaged my wheel on a pothole on the weekend. Still drivable but needs looking at. Got to drop the wheel off on its own and wanted to double check I'll be ok to use my spare.

Current front tyres are 245/30r20 and I think the spare is xxx/80r17.

Will this be ok to use for a couple of journeys, if I stick to 50?

Thanks

I think it shouldn't be a problem since it is the front tire. If it was the rear one, than you should be more careful about it..

Tyre size calculators will help but you'll need to know all 3 measurements for the spare to get it right. The standard spare is a 145/90/16 which I can't check properly as most calculators stop at 85. But at 85 the difference is only 2mm, so if your spare corresponds to that you'll be fine.

Get the measurements and go here: http://www.etyres.co.uk/tyre-size-calculator

Just rechecked the spare, it's 155/80r17. Which using the calculator gives me 3.82% or 25mm increase over my current wheels. Id only need to use it for less than 20 miles so would this be OK?
