I am slowly going Insane from this stupid boot squeak..

All the plastic is off of the strut brace. The gas struts are off.

If I push down on the top drivers side of the boot it makes the sound. Could it be dry hinges? Any help would be good at this point :'(

SOLUTION!

Check the plastic under neath the boot is all clipped in properly

Check the Strut cover is not rubbing against the strut brace

Check the suspension struts are tight.

Check the spare is done up tight and seated properly.

Oil inside of boot poppers

Oil ball joints of gas struts

Check gas struts are the correct way around

Grease boot latch

Check boot weight is secured (under boot plastic)

Biggest one that cured mine is to check all boot plastics are clipped in place properly.

I had this, drove me insane... Took every single piece of trim out of the boot several times, WD40d the rubber seals, took the locking mechanism apart, spare wheel, rear lights etc out... no luck. Then when I was fitting the reversing camera I found a little plastic popper for the trim was hidden away somewhere I wouldnt have seen it when I originally took the boot apart- It was this that was making the squeaking! Felt like such a tool

ITS STOPPED :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

So i narrowed it down to. The lock (filled with grease), The hinges (sprayed, poked, smothered in grease, boot poppers (filled with 3&1 oil), every seal and rubber sprayed in silicone grease.

Ok so the boot is stripper out completely found a snapped stud holding the Bose amp on greased the mother out of it. If it doesn't squeak I will slowly start putting stuff back in until it squeaks then I will burn what ever it is

on the boot lid, either side are 2 rubber coated spring stoppers ... give these half a turn to pop them out... spray some silicone in the lil hole at the top...replace and enjoy the silence..

If only you said that yesterday. Was washing the car went over the boot and heard the squeak I thought I couldn't make any more.

Took the poppers off no squeak, so took them off took the rubber protecters off and covered them in spray grease. No squeak

I can report I had the same issue with a lot of squeaking from the rear and spraying silicone into the boot stoppers seems to have cured it, almost sounded quiet on the motorway for once.

Started up again took the poppers off quickly. Still squeaked.... Removed boot struts still squeaks.

Gunna take the suspension struts out tomorrow and have a look at the top mounts.

SO..... another update to this.

found a thread on google saying they had removed their boot weight which i have done. they got so annoyed with the squeak at one point they opened the boot punched the crap out of the plastic under the boot and heard a very distinctive sound of fixing poppers clipping in place, after that no more squeak!

so i gave it a go this morning to no avail.... Just now i was putting the boot struts back on... on my own.. i jammed my hand in with the bracket and got a little bit upset

I thumped the bottom of the boot to hear a nice click sound B)

Going to try it out later to see if its fixed. :boxing:
