Cooling system

Hi I'm wondering if anybody can help,

My car overheated in the garage today. I looked into it and it appears the cooling fans aren't kicking in.

The temperature gauge on the dash board was indicating high.

I drove it home and the cold air feed was enough to keep the temperature normal.

I've spent the rest of the afternoon looking into the issue but now I'm totally stumped.

I've been doing a lot of searching, reading and testing but still lost!

I've checked the two fan fuses mounted next to the battery, I've tested the 3 relays in the box next to the battery, tried shorting the temp sender to mimic high temp and kick the fans in, but still nothing.

I've also tried the auto active test and no joy.

Only thing I can think of is the fans as no good.

Is there a way I can test the fan directly to prove?

Also now the temp gauge on the dash isn't responding at all.

Hopefully it's just something simple I'm missing!

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks,

Steve

Steve,

To test you can take a direct feed and earth to the fan motors.

The motors can be stripped and cleaned or you can simply just purchase replacements.

Here are a couple of options for you.

Both in stock and good to go same/next day.

Just give me a shout if I can help you further.

Thanks,

I was thinking that would be the next step, do you know which poles to run feeds to? I noticed its a 4 pole connector so just want to make sure I get it right.

Thanks for your links, I'm sure you'll have an order off me by tomorrow afternoon!!!

Sill struggling,

I've ordered new fans of Alex as mine were dud and I've replaced the temperature sensor but the temp gauge on my dash is still stuck on the bottom, has anybody had any thing similar to this or point me in the right direction?

Cheers

Steve
