I was driving home last night and after a while when changing from the 3rd to 4th and 4th to 3rd theres a strange sound, almost as if the gear stick is surrounded by tight rubber. the base of the gear stick also feels slightly inflated, as if theres a balloon inflated under there thats pushing up. It doesnt do it on every gear change & I can change gear fine. Slightly strange description but its the best way I could decribe it Also, my fuel cap has stopped opening fully, When I press the button inside the car it opens but not far enough for me to open it. Zzzz... Posted May 14, 2007 Share Posted May 14, 2007 The gear change problem I think I have also got it... is it a vibration "buzzing noise"? when you hit around 3000rpm in third? I think ... What it is is the leather boot in 3rd, gets trapped between the surround and the rubber shift boot that is below. (The white cone is some felt noise material, below that is a moulded rubber boot.)
