dr bru Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 Have got the rays alloys and have always though the standard tyre dimensions were always a little too "thick". Would ut be a bad idea when replacing tyres to go for a tyre with a lower profile. If it will not affect drivability can anyone suggest what dimensions to go for? Cheers Quote
rmmackfc Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 Wouldn't suggest doing it... Lower profile, normally means a wider tyre plus the fact the wheels could look smaller and the gaps could increase between tyre and arches. Get 19s Quote
dr bru Posted May 10, 2007 Author Posted May 10, 2007 how about sticking to the standard dimensions and going for a set of Falkens as ive heard they are pretty good tryes, cheap and also have more of a curved edge so give the appearance that they are of a lower profile even though they are not Quote
rmmackfc Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 I've got Falkens and they are very good, especially what you pay for them Quote
lomoto Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Really Sarnie. You got new wheels? Maybe Bloody hell when did you get those ?? Quote

Cheers Also, if you lowered the profile, you'd also affect the rolling radius of the tyre, therefore you would have to make sure that you stayed within the EDC boundaries (think its 3%). Going to a 35 profile for example on 18s would mean you'd be -7.23% and therefore under reading on your speedo by 6mph (at 70mph)..... See here: http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible.html I'd just go for Falkens, although not going to make that much difference....... either that or lower the car etc? Quote
