Synchro problem on 5th

Dear all, I am completely new to this having just acquired a 2008 roadster a few weeks ago. I think the synchro is worn on 5th and a quick chat with a mechanic at my local dealer went along the lines of "10-12 hours to rebuild it, probably better looking for a box out of a stacked one".

However, looking on here there are clearly many experts out there and many specialists amongst you. Car is in North Surrey (at least for now). I would welcome any suggestions as to the best way to go about resolving it. I don't know how worn the clutch us but will obviously change it while the box is out anyway.

Might be fine if you get used to double clutching on that gear change. Is it only at high rpm?

I've driven with worn syncros before. this does work. Don't rush the gears, just wait for the RPM to drop a bit. and it's fine.

I've read a bit about the syncros on the DE engine cars being crap. The general consensus is , if you're going to replace the box. you're best getting one out of a 2006 DE engined car as they have a better syncro design.
