L4V15 Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Hi. Just had some new tyres fitted. The guy said that there was about 1/2 an inch movement on the rear wheels when he was removing them. He was unsure whether it was normal, maybe something to do with the diff? He also said that he heard the car click as I reversed back and braked. As if the wheels had an extra 1/2" turn before that stopped? Any ideas? Thanks Steve Quote
jonst205 Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Sorry dude but I think you've had no replies as you need to be more specific - do you mean the wheel rotated 1/2" or do you mean the wheel (when lifted) could be moved 1/2"? If the latter, it's pretty serious. Quote
L4V15 Posted October 6, 2012 Author Posted October 6, 2012 It's not the normal clicky axel issue tho. Tis different. No noises at all when driving. Quote
Ekona Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 But a click when reversing, yes? That's the clicky axle issue. Quote

jonst205 Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 I think so, as all LSD's will have an amount of slack before it locks. May be okay while you still have a clicky axle issue. Quote
L4V15 Posted October 6, 2012 Author Posted October 6, 2012 Ok good I was hoping it was normal. Thanks for all the replies chaps. There is no clicky axel issue, checked for this thoroughly when I bought the car. Quote
doctor austin Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Just in case ... to check for clicking axle..lower the drivers window and roll on and off the throttle in 1st gear..thats when you get the clicking...normally you cant hear it with the window up....Oh and Ive never felt 1/2" play in the rotation of any modern axle...1920's axles when very worn then yes. Maybe this helps???? if not ignor. Quote
