samsniss350z Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 hi all, this is a follow up to a post i uploaded last week requesting help regarding a drivers side window that failed to open (i'm only grateful it didn't shut down in the open position). i recieved a couple of reply's both of which were helpful. i didn't need to act on either as dark forces conspired and the window started to work again of its own valition. Unfortunately it happened again yesterday leaving the window jammed shut and no matter how much fiddling nothing rectified it. I'm getting a little unnerved by this for a couple of reasons, one being an MOT failure so i need to do something about it. I was chatting to a mechanic (not affiiated to any manufacturer) who suggested that it could be a dodgy solenoid as there was no 'click' when i operated the switch. This sounded feasible. but not being a mechanic myself was uncertain as to the validity of his comment. Could what he said be feasable? If correct would it be expensive to fix? Could it be something i could do myself? Again i would be grateful for any feedback. samniss350z. Quote

samsniss350z Posted September 6, 2012 Author Posted September 6, 2012 to the Ska mad legend that is spurs mad Dave. could it be possible that there is a dodgy solenoid as the lad i spoke to mentioned without prompting that if the switch didn't make a 'click' when operating the switch then it was definately a solenoid and not the motor. I'm not doubting for a minute that the motor could be shot but i'm just wondering, have i been fed a line re solenoid explanation? best regards, samsniss350z. Quote
