I have done a search, but have found conflicting information.

I have the parts and my father-in-law is a mechanic, he would replace the part but is concerned that the inlet manifold would need to be removed.

The general impression I get is that it's ~1.5 hour job, but the only detailed description I have found (link to american forum) suggests its more 7 hours (for both sides) and it eluded to the inlet manifold being removed, see below.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated,

I bought the cover and a single gasket from you a couple of months ago. Is this all I need?

If you are only doing one side you will only require 1 cam box gasket.

Most reuse the mid and lower plenum gaskets.

Some RTV as per evilscorp post

This will be handy knowledge when I paint my covers, gaskets already supplied by Sir Alex, yet to have a weekend free to get the job started.
