stevo1179 Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 I have done a search, but have found conflicting information. I have the parts and my father-in-law is a mechanic, he would replace the part but is concerned that the inlet manifold would need to be removed. The general impression I get is that it's ~1.5 hour job, but the only detailed description I have found (link to american forum) suggests its more 7 hours (for both sides) and it eluded to the inlet manifold being removed, see below. http://my350z.com/forum/engine-drivetra ... skets.html Any advice would be greatly appreciated, Steve Quote
ZMANALEX Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Replacing a rocker cover will take circa 1hr. The plenum has to be removed but the inlet manifold does not Alex Quote
stevo1179 Posted August 9, 2012 Author Posted August 9, 2012 Thank you Alex, do I need a Plenum gasket then? Steve Quote
ZMANALEX Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Thank you Alex, do I need a Plenum gasket then? Steve Nope, just 2 new cam box gaskets, £11.00 each if you require them Quote
stevo1179 Posted August 9, 2012 Author Posted August 9, 2012 I bought the cover and a single gasket from you a couple of months ago. Is this all I need? Quote
evilscorp Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Some RTV silicone for around certain areas. Have a look for the workshop manual Quote
ZMANALEX Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I bought the cover and a single gasket from you a couple of months ago. Is this all I need? If you are only doing one side you will only require 1 cam box gasket. Most reuse the mid and lower plenum gaskets. Some RTV as per evilscorp post Alex Quote
taras Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Doing the same thing now any indication as to where the pdf workshop manual can be found? Or at least a pictures showing where sealant should be applied to? Quote
evilscorp Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 at work on phone so cant search very good but if i remember right its at the corners only front and back, just a small anount, post a thread asking for the manual, tells you how to rebuild the entire car! Might have done a write up myself will look through old posts Quote
Wasso Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 This will be handy knowledge when I paint my covers, gaskets already supplied by Sir Alex, yet to have a weekend free to get the job started. Quote
