Head unit for audi A3

A friend of mine wants to update the head unit in his audi A3 so he can connect his ipod.

 

Hes got a budget of around £200 and has been looking at the following makes Boss, Beat, Veba.

 

Anyone had any experiences with these or have any recommendations for what to pick or avoid?

Does he want to change the whole HU or just add ipod function?

 

In my experience an add on ipod gizmo is a waste of time really i would try and get a new unit with ipod function built in

Agreed but is that feasible for £200

Hmmm possibly you can get double din ipod compatible units for £100-£150 decent makes too but depends what fittings you need, should be canbus as its VAG so not too difficult... What HU has he got, if it is say an RNS unit like in my Leon you can get a plug in iPod unit which is about £150 i have been tempted to get one for my Leon...

Is it 8L or 8P? I think 8P is double din and 8L is single.
