Hi All.

Is it a BAD idea to clean alloy wheels (specifically RAYS Alloys) with a brush to remove surface dirt and then use megs hot rims to take of the remainder?

Can you damage the wheel by doing this? If so can the damage be repaired?

Cheers.

Rays are powdercoated iirc, should be fine. Personally though it's best not to let them get to that state.

Incidentally it would be rinse with water to remove surface dirt, spray on hot rims, brush and rinse off.

I always use brushes on mine. They're the Swissvax-style ones I got from Envy a year or so ago, they do a much better job than a wash mitt does.

I use brushes on mine, I use the budget set that Envy sells. You should be fine if it's soft bristles and has a plastic surround and not a metal one, otherwise it can scratch. Personally I think they do a great job especially getting into the tight spots.

I did a clean recently and used brushes, should be in my posts somewhere........
