My brother and his fiance traded there pug 307 in for renault scenic on the 3rd of feb with a local car dealer, yesterday it broke down and had to be towed, new steering column required £435 :scare::rant: , since the car was bought from a dealer is there any comeback after the 28 days?? No warranty was taking out either

If it is due to it being over worn then they probably have a case. Ask the dealer if they want to repair. Negotiate around flat out refusals. Ultimate last resort - get quotes from a few places, go with most reasonable and invoice them, follow up with small claims.

3 months is the rule here. You've got loads of comeback under SOGA, don't worry.

Thanks guys so best route is to pay to get the work done and go through Trading Standards?

No, you MUST give the dealer ample opportunity to fix it. Do it in writing, too.

Of course, if they don't then yes, go elsewhere and get it done but prepare for the court case.
