Have to say they look B) Phil!

and they cost B) phil....!!

A brake upgrade on a Cayman S makes it as quick round a track as a current 911 - a 30 bhp difference. Cost that as an upgrade on the Zed! ;)

Are these that good?

Get spending mate! ;)

TBH I don't know. It was just an example, but the point with the Porsche ones is a higher operating temperature.

EBC red and DS2500 are worlds apart.

DS2500 are not agressive to the disc.

Have you used both? In what conditions? :)

Yes we test all pads on road and track, our market is heavily toward performance rather than price if I tell you we sell on average 100 plus sets of DS2500 per week that will give you an idea of how poular they are.

We stock lots of other specialist track pads from every name you could think of and some you will never have heard of but for a pad that gives the right road feel can be used on track and not be concerned about destroying the discs then DS2500 is the pad to have.

Id defo do the suspension and brakes before a power upgrade (I did it the other way round the 1st and 2nd time)

Its only when you drive this car with a proper setup for suspension and brakes do you realise how important it is.

Even just change the pads, the Nissan jobbies really are turd.

Phil,

How do I order a set of DS2500's

Steve

Best pads for the Z have to be the Ferodo DS2500 you will find lots of owners running these.

We supply these from stock at £185 for a full car set including delivery.

We can also supply EBC reds at £115 full set or yellows at £120 again including delivery.

The DS2500 are so much better though.

what other disks have you got? I don't want DBA's

Also, will need rear pads soon, how much for ds2500 rear only?

Rear pads £85

Just out of interest why not DBA

I'm predicting that its something to do with this ;)

Thats very interesting and the first time I have seen that happen with DBA discs. We have been using these for some time now and on serious track day cars without any failures.

We will have some other top drawer discs available from february which are the performance friction product I don't have confirmed prices as yet but will try to sort that in the next few days.

Just to try and clarify for you, the standard brembo pad is in fact a Ferodo 2000 material albeit supplied in a brembo box.

The pads recommended, Ferodo DS2500 is basically a better grade pad totally suitable for normal road use although it will improve your brake performance and pedal feel. The added bonus is that they are cheaper than the standard Nissan issue.

Hope that helps and sorry if it got a bit technical.

As Phil says, get some Ferodos or I would also recommend Red Stuff through the link on the front page of this site. :)

Phil,

How do they compare to the Nismo ones as that is what I run now.

Whilst the Nismo pad is an improvement on the standard I would still say the Ferodo has the edge.

The material on the Nismo is a good friction compound but what it lacks is modulation which is where the Ferodo scores.

Many people talk about pads purely on how quickly they will stop the car from a hard stop, this is all well and good however performance driving requires differing degrees of modulation so that the brakes are not just used for stopping but for setting up the car pre-corner, this is where good modulation can pay huge dividends for fast B road driving and track driving. It can make quite a serious difference to how the cars aspect will be comming into a corner.

That sounds impressive. Shame I still don't fully understand. :scare:

Unless you're driving on the limits of adhesion on the road, don't worry about it!!

Any of the pads will be an improvement over the standard pads, and should make for a nicer drive on the road. Go according to your budget and if you care enough get someone like Phil on board for some techy stuff! ;):)
