Most likely yes, import duty (which you will have to pay to UPS or whoever is the courier) and also you should get a VAT invoice at some point I believe.

 

You should :pmtarmac: he has good contacts to the US and will save you the hassle of sorting out any problems that may arise.

so how does import duty work then, as i have been buying items from the states, china etc.. for years on ebay and never once been hit with import fees, but admitably i have only ever bought small things, (games, models, odds and sods)

If its under £40 they don't tend to bother...

 

Generally its

 

Price of goods plus price of shipping and insurance (x vat)

 

if its over £180 then you get charged duty... duty rate depends on product.

 

if its delivered by USPS (united states parcel service) then you may get a charge for handling when its transferred to Royal mail. usually £10
