305 tyres on a 10J wheel?

My rear wheels are 20x10. I have run 275 that seem to stretch, and 285 which seem fine. However, will 305 be too wide?

285's imho is wide enough on a 10.5j, let alone 10j.

I run 285's on my 9.5j rim and they fit square, so you may be able to run 295's, or maybe 305's but this may balloon the tyre and results in poor handling.

 

Best to go with 295.
