Beavis Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Why not get the proper touch up pack from your local Nissan dealer? Quote
113z Posted February 18, 2011 Author Posted February 18, 2011 i have tired and none available pathetic, nissan state no touch up available for quartz black edition Quote
cmck13 Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Your paint code should be on an aluminium plate in the engine bay drivers side with all the other info.It should be a 3 figure code, i.e my blue azure is B17. I think if you search on this site you may find a photo of it? Not sure though. Quote
AK350Z Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Dont wait for Nissan to make a paint, they never did for Rosso Red! Quote
Chris`I Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 KAV is what you want. I got some from Paints4u last week, it looks like a good match You need to go through and pick the kit you want, then scroll down to the bit that says "I cant find the colour I'm looking for". In the box put "2010 370z Quartz KAV". Thats what I did and they made it up and sent it out very quick. Quote
113z Posted February 19, 2011 Author Posted February 19, 2011 ok thanks what is the best kit for basic stone chip touch up in your opinion Quote
HassanZ Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 I got a bottle of base coat and a bottle of clear coat in 1 pack from Nissan for £5 including VAT. That is probably the best place to get it from due to accurate paint matching. A quick question...(sorry to hijack) If you over paint around the stone chip and let it dry, is it possible you could remove that paint or will it stay on the paintwork permanently? Thanks, Hassan Quote
cmck13 Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 To be honest touch up kits are what they are, the only successful way is a total respray. Try the nail test if you can feel it with your finger nail it needs professionally doing. Quote

Blob Eliminator should help - http://www.langka.com/blob-eliminator-p-31.html You can remove it depending on how long its been. In my experience any more than a few days and you'll struggle though. Less than 24hrs and it comes off easy, so long as the car hasnt been baking hot in the sun. Quote
cmck13 Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Just a point of interest the standard touch up kit has a brush that 4mm wide, far too large for the normal scratch, paints 4 you have specialised "spears" that are 0.02mm at the end for a more accurate fill without over spill. Quote

Yup, use spears or a tooth pick, anything else is too wide Quote
