Well the wheels will be a square setup 8.5 all round. As the oem six spoke wheels are also a square setup 8.0 all round but are fitted with wider tyres on the rear than the front I thought that would be the way to go, is that right?

People have done both hence me asking.

 

I guess ultimately tyre size would come down to how you want the car to look and how aggressive the offsets are.

With 8.5s and 30 offsets you'll need spacers.

 

I always feel that if you are changing wheels then you might aswell get it right first time.

Nothing wrong with having a square setup with your wheels, but you MUST keep the stagger between front and rear else you'll end up with a horribly oversteery car that's going to try and kill you at every attempt. Keep it a minimum of 20mm like stock is (i.e. 225/45/18 and 245/45/18), or increase the rear size if you want more grip at the rear. :)

Not that dramatic and going too wide will result in understeer. A few combinations here:
