Square setup

Nothing wrong with having a square setup with your wheels, but you MUST keep the stagger between front and rear else you'll end up with a horribly oversteery car that's going to try and kill you at every attempt. Keep it a minimum of 20mm like stock is (i.e. 225/45/18 and 245/45/18), or increase the rear size if you want more grip at the rear. :)

I guess ultimately tyre size would come down to how you want the car to look

Not that dramatic and going too wide will result in understeer. A few combinations here:
