Cheap solution - get an offcut of carpet, lay the bootmat down as a template, cut, lay the carpet under the thin bootmat. Provides extra soundproofing and saves money for the next mod

Real mods will have to wait for a while as the house is draining most of my cash.

After cutting the carpet paint the edges with Copydex to stop them fraying. (copydex will dry/cure clear.)

It sounds like a good deal, I need to have a think on when/if I could drive down to get it. Spare time at the moment is in very short supply.
