Warranty Problems and rubbish dealers

Hi

I've had a few problems, though nothing to put me off the car, just the manufacturer/dealers. :boxing:

I've had a pedal box change under warranty, sticking clutch pedal, with a funny spring noise.

Crap painted rear bumper, dirt or some other contaminent in the paint. They still haven't sorted it out properly, but now the summers over they are getting it back again.

The gearbox whines a bit when cold, not in the summer and the Rays alloys appear to be corroding after 18 months???? I've only used the car at weekends and it's always gleaming. Anyone else had this problem?

The top notch Bose system that doesn't like the cold and skips like a good un. The dealer fobbed me off with 'it's caused by humidity' and handed me a photocopied page of the user manual, so I thought I was stuffed. If anyone has the email I've heard mentioned admitting there's a fault, could they send it to me so I can force feed it to the dealer until he gives me a new one!

My front bumpers peppered (after 10k Miles), but at least I haven't got any holes in my hood :D phew!

Anyone know of any good garages/dealers to use in the Northants area they could recommend?

Change the gearbox oil may sort out the whinning.

Rays have been refurbished under warranty due to corrosion. Known issue

Bose units have also been repleced uinder warranty. Known issue.

Lookd like your being fobbed off. Try another dealer

A search will highlight plentyoff info ;)

I've had 5 'new' Bose units. The one that finally fixed it was a differnet finish of grey, matt rather than shiny. My Rays are begining to corrode after 33 months. I'll try and get them refurbed. Additional problem this weekend was driver's door power window packed up! Also be aware of corroding gearstick, plastic insert on the top bubbles after 6 months...I'm on my third!

Thanks for that, it's going into the dealer (Camden Nissan) for them to take a look on Thursday. They've already said they 'do not fit new units, only refurbs'. We'll see. If they don't sort it then I'm headed for the small claims court, with all the problems other owners have had and the fact other dealers have swapped out units, Nissan have set a presedence and don't have a leg to stand on.

I'm not taking any crap.

Update on my warranty work, rear bumper getting repainted, a new set of alloys are going to be fitted and the head unit is going away (I've asked for a new one, but whether I'll get one is another matter), so all in all not a bad outcome. I only have corrosion on 3 wheels, so a new set is a good result.

Perhaps the dealers aren't so bad after all?

Fell out with my dealer again today....

The service manager has now taken on my 'issues' after telling me he told Nissan GB that he didn't want me as a customer anymore!

My dealer doesn't like when you call Nissan GB or find out that you know your rights.

You've got me worried now, what sort of issues??

If you don't use them, where do you go? I live in Kettering and Richard Saunders aren't great. Do you use an independent?

Any info greatfully recieved, for-warned is for-armed after all B)

Hi Liam

Cars in with the dealer at the minute, picking it up Friday morning as I'm in Finland at the minute. They are putting 4 new alloys on which is a bit of a result, thought they'd just refurb them. I think I'll have a hole where the head unit was until they get a new one back and I'll let you know what the paint job on the bumpers like when I see it. I've got everything crossed I get it back in the condition I gave it to them after Clarks problems. Made sure I got a condition report done and mileage down before I let them have it, don't want it used as an evening run around.

Stew - I'd love to be a fly on the wall at one of your meetings with your dealer!! I've no idea how abrasive/awkward you'd have to be for a dealer to say he doesn't want you as a customer anymore!

Sterling effort though mate!

Hi

Car sorted by dealer, 4 new wheels, rear bumper resprayed, car not cleaned when I picked it up, body wet so I couldn't check the paint properly

Typical. No damage and paint job on the bumper OK.

Head unit has been sent away, hopefully never to return and a nice shiney new one to replace it. Should get it in a week or so.

I thought I'd add some pics of my car as it's looking shiney.

Hi Jane

It's Northampton or Richard Sanders in Kettering. Richard Sanders wouldn't change my head unit out though, gave me some guff about humidity causing skipping. I've now got cutting out on the left speaker since Northampton changed the head unit - I give up.

I'm near to the point of changing car to get away from the dealers as I'm fed up with being made to feel like an inconvenience. Are any manufacturers any better???? (Vauxhall were pretty good so maybe a 220 VXT if I can fold myself in?)

Richard Sanders serviced my car OK, haven't had any problems. Parking was an issue there, but they've just had a new area built so it should improve. Mines due again in March, so I'll take it there.

They are probably as good as any - good luck :surrender:

Let me know how you get on - Phil.

Hi Phil B,

Thanks for all the help and advice and I will let u know how I get on in future - for the record my 6CD changer skips too - only happens when it appears to be a particularly cold morning.

I have decided to pay the hotel bill and take the car back to Exeter this time as I used to order all all my cars from there in a work capacity and they know me well.

Next time will try your recommendation however and let u know.

Hope to manage to make some of the meets in the Midlands area in future but have not seen many Z's around this way only a coupe on a 53 plate near the Nissan garage in Northampton !!!!!

Wonder where he takes his - LOL.

Jane xx :teeth:

The CD skipping is where the laser isn't good enough to get through the condensation on the discs Jane. If you eject them and give them a wipe, it helps. Otherwise, ask for a new headunit. :)

If it makes you feel any better. (I'm sure it wont)... My stereo has just this morning started to do the same! Took about 5 mins for the car to warm up and it stopped though.

I did read somethign in the handbook that talks about it skipping in the cold, its not like Nissan dont know about it.
