slimjim Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 When I first start her in the mornings... there is the lovely sound from the engine. Clutch depressed, obviously. Then when I bring up the clutch for the first time (usually reverse) there is an awful sound. Depress the clutch and it carry's on. Only stops when I do more than 5 mph (in 1st or reverse).... then never starts again, till the next time I start her from cold. Anyone else have this? Quote
Husky Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 hmmm the release bearing is a common issue where it sounds like a cement mixer when the clutch is up but when depressed it goes away. not sure about it going away once you start driving, mine does it all the time. some are louder than others. Its nothing majorly harmfull just annoying. Quote
slimjim Posted September 29, 2010 Author Posted September 29, 2010 Yeah, cement mixer is probably the closest description.... Will do a little research on Release Bearings... Thanks bud! Quote

slimjim Posted September 29, 2010 Author Posted September 29, 2010 Didn't notice anything unusal in Wales, but i suppose it was warm then. Yeah... Cheers AGAIN for that my good man She is fine after about 1 min once warmed up... or after you do 10-20meters in a gear. Just going to put it down to nothing Quote
neo-ninja Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 I think mine is gritty when going into and out of first and second when cold, phsycologicly it sounds noisy i think but by all acounts this is very common with the gear boxes - garage also confirmed it aswell. Quote
ChrisS Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Might be worth a G Box oil change or checking to see if it needs topping up. Quote
