led lightning.....

Quite fancy installing some LED lights into the door reflectors and also some leds pointing down as puddle lights. Has anyone done this and if so where did you buy the lights from?

im working on this for a members car just now. it shouldn't be too expensive i just need to find a spare moment to finish them. shouldnt be long now though

I've found this firm here that do LED lighting and seem quite cheap, reckon they may tuck in behind the door reflectors and stick underneath the doors as puddles. Presume i'd just wiring them in series and take a feed from one of the interior lights or the door switch?

I have done exactly this! Cheapest and best looking way imo is too just buy some white leds and resistors from ebay, make a small panel, drill holes, glue them in, then glue the panel in behind the reflector! I have 16 behind one reflector and it looks spot on! Completely OEM look! If you wanted you could even do them in the shape of a Z!!

I put 4 along the bottom of the door card too, these had the shrouds on so they only direct the light down! Very handy in the dark for seeing what you step out into!

I just ran the wire through the door harness and tapped into the room lamp!

 

While I was on I put some orange leds in the footwell for when the door is open too!!

I think all in only cost a few pounds!!

That looks pretty smart - is the light cast by the under-door LEDs actually a bit wider than it looks in the photo? Or is it really just a spot? I know cameras aren't great at high contrast photos...

Yeah, its quite a big area covered. It is brighter right below where the LED's are but is spread further out. Your right it was a pain to get a decent photo.

If it helps I used some black LED holders for the white ones so that you can hardly see them from the side. I suppose you could go wild and put quite a few more along the door but I thought that ould be like a runway, and 4 is very bright anyway!
