will350 Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 I was recently driving along in my 350 which ive had for a couple of months and have never had a problem until suddenly whilst cruising on the motorway the engine fault light comes on and then the VDC OFF light and SLIP light keep popping up any suggestions as to what the probem could be and how to sort it? many thanks will Quote
cookiemonster Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Have you checked the battery recently? Quote
rtbiscuit Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 if the CEL has come on then go read the code, it will tell you whats up. this might help viewtopic.php?f=64&t=31017 Quote
narcotix Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Might be a stupid question but what's the VDC Off light? Is it the same as the ESP Off light? will350: Did you experience any loss of power around the time the CEL came on? Is the CEL still on? If so then get the code read before clearing ... Quote
will350 Posted December 31, 2009 Author Posted December 31, 2009 thanks for the replys guys the lights are still on and there is no loss in power as i just gave it a good thrashing to check but all seem to be working fine apart from these lights. may sound silly but how would i chck the code? Quote
M13KYF Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 have you reset the ECU. There is a guide on how to do it in the guides section. Quote
will350 Posted January 11, 2010 Author Posted January 11, 2010 im going to reset the ecu and see what happens but if it comes on again im goin to take it to the garage any1 know how much it costs to get the fault code read and turned off? Quote
rtbiscuit Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 when you reset you get the code then. post it up and we'll tell you what the porblem is. Quote
will350 Posted January 11, 2010 Author Posted January 11, 2010 just reset the ECU useing the guide procedures and it has worked a treat took me a couple of attempts because you've got to be spot on with the timings but just been out in the car all the lights are off and the car is quicker and more responsive on the throttle so im a very happy man right now haha cheers for the posts guys Quote
narcotix Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Glad you got it sorted mate ... Did you read the fault code prior to the reset? Quote
rtbiscuit Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 what was the fault code? if it had been retarding the engine, i'd want to know why Quote
Mark@Abbey m/s Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Sounds more like a throttle problem to throw those lights on. Hopefully the fault wont come back. Would of been good to have known the CEL code thou. Quote
