Coupe or Roadster

Obviously this question is probably down to personal preference but interested in your opinions.

I've been considering a new Z but all I see around these parts are Coupes (usually Silver or Gunmetal). I've not actually seen a roadster on the road so can't decide which I like more. :headhurt:

Gonna take a trip to a garage on Friday (quite a few miles away) who's meant to have a sunset roadster to see if I like the style.

The roadster would certainly be a rare car around these parts and even rarer in black, but the coupe does seem to have a better "stance".

What's your thoughts guys?

Car was designed to be a coupe, not a roadster - the looks of the roadster with the hood up emphasizes this IMO.

Looks OK with the hood down, but I personally wouldn't have the hood down very often.

Roadster is also slower than the coupe

Each to their own, though mate

I think you've said basically what I was thinking....I don't think I rate the roadster much on looks with the hood up and the coupe does seem to have more style.

I'll have a looksy at one Friday and see if I take a liking to it or not.

Thanks for your opinions guys

Oh come on, how can you say you don't like the roadster with the hood up?

I will admit that sometimes I think the boot looks really long as the roof doesn't slope down to the tail of the car. Still love it though and it is beautiful to drive. In the roadster you hear a lot more of the roar from the engine which is nice and all the girlies look at you..... (Just make sure your girlfriend doesn't catch you looking back)

The difference in speed between the coupe and roadster isn't much, what's 0.4 secs between friends and besides if you are on an autobaun then they're both limited to 155 so no difference there.

Boot a lot smaller as the roof cuts the back into two sections but I don't know how practical the shape of the extra boot space in the coupe actually is as it goes through support strut.

Weather is never that bad down in the south and I think as long as it's not raining then I will have the roof down.

I have never seen another roadster on the road.....EVER.....! I have see quite a few coupes though in all colours and think I have see 4-5 on the last week.

Definately roadster for me! :teeth:

I think the roadster is proper minging, IMO. It almost looks like a totally different car :scare: I did however see a pic of a chilli roadster with Nismo bodykit and it looked the business :teeth:

Mine's a coupe and there's no doubt in my mind its the far better resolved design. But I am tempted by top down motoring listening to that motor and with a tasty zorst. I'm very torn.......

Considering how minging the roadster is (which I don't agree).... that's the car that was entered into our show n shine ;)

And? That does not affect my own opinion of it :)

Nor mine ;)

So whats your point  I don't like it, you do :)

Fight fight fight :boxing::teeth:

The power difference is not really that important to me....and as said it's very negligible. The coupe does have the lines but the roadster currently seems to be much rarer.

Resale value would probably be better on the roadster.

I also feel that my bright yellow days are over....black for me ;)

Well - me and the missus had this debate (for about 10 minutes until she won).

I do like the shape of the coupe, but for me, the roadster with the top down looks great. Though I admit with the top up it certainly loses its looks substantially.

Fortunately the summer has been great this year, and I have had many a great day of motoring with the top down.

Had the missus and I never owned a convertble before, we would probably have ended up with a coupe. But for anyone that has owned a conviertible and enjoyed driving around with the top down - switching to a coupe would be a drastic change.

I dont know whether resale value will be better or not - to be honest I didnt buy a Nissan with resale value in mind LOL, but having said that the Z certainly seems to have some kind of allure that other marques dont have.

The plus points to owning a roadster for me are:

1, you get to enjoy summer driving with the top down

2, you get to hear your exaust without having to wind the windows down

3, roadsters will always sell, no matter their age.

The negative points

1, I think the coupe will always be considered by many to be the "propper" Z

2, There is more to go wrong (hood).

3, The storage can be an issue if you want to transport bulkier items.

All in all, Im happy with the convertible, and I would have been happy with a coupe Im sure, but then Id be envious of all those 15 year old clapped out escort cabriolets in this weather.
