Bockaaarck Posted November 16, 2009 Share Posted November 16, 2009 Hi Guys, I picked up my Zed this Friday just gone and to say I am extremely happy with her is an understatement. However; I did get an engine check light appear on Saturday morning so I whipped her in to a local Nissan dealer so they could take a look. They very kindly ran a check on her and this is what the report came back with: DTC RESULTS.............................TIME HO2S1 HTR (B1)............................0 (P0031) HO2S1 HTR (B2)............................0 (P0051) HO2S2 HTR (B1)............................0 (P0037) HO2S2 HTR (B2)............................0 (P0057) Now this is clearly some kind of issue related to the o2 sensors, which is ok, because at least I know what it is. The chap in the garage said that the car seemed to be running fine without any other errors. He also indicated that if the car had been parked with its tail against a wall or bush, or even close to another parked car this could sometimes trigger the warning light to appear as the flow of Oxygen around the exhaust wouldn't be as free. He also said that the really wet heavy weather we had been experiencing could also have been a contributory factor He indicated that if the problem persisted it would be worth getting it fully checked out and that a replacement o2 sensor would be about £190 each if required So that all sounds ok and I am going to monitor things to see if the light re-appears. However; what I'm most concerned about it what kind of issue I could encounter if I run the car with this kind of problem, other than crappy fuel economy, prior to taking the car in to get the o2 sensors checked or replaced? ZMANALEX Posted November 16, 2009 Share Posted November 16, 2009 Those codes relate to both front sensors and both rear sensors. Impossible that all four have failed at the same time. Possibly just a glitch. Sensors are around £130.00 each new from Nissan. I have them available preowned at £60.00 each but you should not require them. Alex. Nissan garages are called stealer for a reason..they charge exorbitant price on parts and labour and simple diagnostic work. Don't pay £190 for an O2 sensor..that's too much. PM our resident Zed specialists ZMANALEX or R35LEE, they will sort you out. Those two know a hell lot about the Zed. I am currently having the same problem with the check engine management light. It says the O2 sensor but I have replaced this and the mass air flow sensor...and the lights are still on. the error engine code might not necessary tells you which component/sensor needs changing. It can be other sensor or electrical parts. I am hoping i will get it sorted soon..it's a sick Zed at the moment Much as i enjoy driving it, it's still not right to be driving around with your engine mangement light constantly on. So i know what you mean. Have been told that They can be pain in the a**se to sort out if your car has ever been water damaged like mine. I was surprised that all of them could have failed at the same time, so I think it probably is a little gremlin of some kind. I think I'll monitor the situation for a few days and see what happens. My main concern is driving her about when perhaps I may be doing her some harm or just making a problem (which I should probably get sorted) much worse. Luckily Alex was on the case and has responded to my post as well. I'm going to see how it goes over the next few days I think. I don't mind spending money to make sure she is looked after but I certainly don't want to pay over the odds. She seems to be running fine though, no nasty sounds, engine appears nice and smooth, no other issues of any kind. Guess I just need to see how things go over the coming week. bounty78 Posted November 16, 2009 Share Posted November 16, 2009 If it's only a temporary glitch, the light should go off permanently after the ECU reset. Mine comes back on after restarting or cranking the engine or within 5 mins of the reset. I am not technical but have learnt quite a fair bit about the sick car. I drove in to work no issues and had no problems with the car, she ran just fine. Before I left work last night I went through the old manual ECU reset (ignition, pedal, wait, pedal etc) and that worked a treat. The CEL cleared and I scooted off home without any issues. However I fired her up again this morning and the old CEL light was there again. I'm guessing I need to find myself a decent Zed specialist in Somerset somewhere and get them to take a look at it. Might be they just need a damn good clean rather than replacing. think I'm in no need to worry about this, my ECU uses a closed loop so it doesn't as far as I understand care about the cars sensors a. Bockaaarck Posted November 29, 2009 Author Share Posted November 29, 2009 Ok, so I took her back to the independent dealer I got her from and asked them to sort out the O2 sensors. Made it clear I was happy for them to take em out and clean them if they could (she's done 67K) and if that sorted the engine warning light all well and good. I did also make it clear that if they couldn't sort the problem I would expect the sensors to be replaced. So I gave them 3-4 hours to take a look and sort the issue and when I go back and pick her up all seems fine, the warning light doesn't appear, they've taken her for a run, stopped and started her a number of times, checked the ECU codes and all is good and off home I scooted.
