ab350z Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Just got a rather bland email address through from Play.com stating - "This email is being sent as confirmation of the recent changes you have made to your email address. Kind regards,Play.com" Odd, I thought, havent used Play in a while. So I attempt to logon to the site, password not working. Call up Customer Services and explain about the email and how it def wasnt me. Rattle off a few details and low and behold someone has hacked the account and changed my details! I asked if she could tell me what the new details were, she told me to check the email, right enough there's an address cc'd on the email. Battered off a traditionally Scottish abusive mail response, more swear words than actual content. Cancelled the account and called the bank to bin the card. Very worrying indeed. Quote
ab350z Posted April 30, 2009 Author Posted April 30, 2009 Combo of letters and numbers, not an easy one to guess at all. Working in IT, i've been drumming good password practice into folk for years! Quote

nurrish Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 I hate these people!!! I was nearly caught out going back a few years.....I won 2 laptops on ebay and the seller requested the money sent via western union....at the time i wasn't that knowledgeable of the ebay shenanigans....So i sent the money then about an hour later i had an email from ebay saying the seller is a fraud and to not go through with the sale!!!...An email came through from the seller that he was on the way to the store to claim the western union order!!!I was straight on the phone to western union and cancelled it asap!!! although it cost me £50 in charges it was better off that loosing £1500!!!! Moral of the story.....Be very wary when it comes to purchasing on the web....Never again have i sent through western union Quote
Zazur Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Is it worth making sure Play.com understand what he might be trying to do Quote
ab350z Posted April 30, 2009 Author Posted April 30, 2009 Yeah I've contacted Play and they have cancelled the account etc. Quote
